They looked awful in the pre-season other than Staal and they have continued with that. Not surprised. They have no clue how to play this system well yet.
The new coaching has been dreadful starting with Alain. It is a long season but they better learn this new system fast otherwise the season will be going down the toilet very soon and hank does not resign. Speaking of hank, he has not been great either.
I think they will make a difference. Those pythons Pyatt/Boyle/ wont get as much ice time as they did last night. Richards actually looked a little better last night.
When your 3rd line is made up of Boyle and Pyatt, both 4th line guys, you have issues. When Cally is back in the next game or two, hopefully Pyatt is pulled from the lineup. MZA should be on the 3rd line with Fast and Boyle for now. In a perfect world I would much rather see kids playing over guys like Boyle and Pyatt, but at least Boyle is here to play for now. Pyatt though should be gone. Send him down. If he gets claimed, great. If not we bury over half his money in the minors, which is great. No lose situation. Overall, it is one game. You cannot get crazy over one game, but make no mistake about it, we have issues to work on here. We played like crap in the pre-season, and last night looked like the same thing. I still wonder how we score on a regular basis. I still think we need a PP QB. And I also think we are very much lacking a big physical dman to clear the crease and keep forwards honest out there. So let's keep things in perspective. Cally will be back next game hopefully, and Pyatt should be out I hope. Hags will be back in 9 games. And I am sure the team will get more comfortable with AV's system. But there are issues here. We could be 2-7 by the time we see home ice. Let's hope we get better from here.
