Didn’t do anything they did in the first game. Didn’t shoot enough. Didn’t clog up the neutral zone. Thus they sucked.
I don't know, they outshot CBJ 42-21, that's a good # of shots for, and a low # of shots against. Won over 57% of FO's. Won't argue they played as well as game 1, hits and blocked shots both down, that was almost a perfect game, but I think they were okay. Truth be told, I think two disallowed goals in a few minutes stretch played with their heads a bit and gave CBJ a jolt. I think if either of those goals count, we have a different outcome. Player wise, Cuylle played well, I didn't like what Jones and Schneider did at all, and I don't think Igor was sharp. Overall, I didn't like the result, but I am not sitting here saying OMG they were terrible and didn't show up.
Rangers scored 5 goals and lost put 10 in 2 games Missing lindgren came back at games end all good signs
I think it was just one of those weird games. The Rangers did not play as well as they did in Buffalo, and they were sloppy at times, but they played an okay game, with clear things for Lavy to focus on in practice to cleanup. 3 goals are 3 goals, but they did put 5 pucks in the net, 2 of which were reversed because of being barely offsides, which did not have anything to do with the goals (which is different than the CBJ reversed goal which was not a goal and didn't go in). If Lindgren is out for a little bit, Jones and Schneider need to be much better, they were not good. Wheeler needs to play better as well. Outside of that I think they were sloppy at times, but okay overall, and if they could have stayed onsides I think they win the game, but they didn't, and a loss is a loss. Looking forward to the home opener tomorrow night.
Joe Mich hit the nail on the head when he noted that when the BJs picked up the physical play the Rangers wilted. There were a lot of shots from safe spots away from contact but noone willing to get dirty in front of the net to collect the numerous rebounds. Also too many shots missing the net altogether.
Only two games, but i don't know how effective the 4th line is going to be. May need an upgrade there by Xmas.
The Rangers lack what they have lacked for a long time now, grit and toughness. I think they are better equipped this year on that front with Cuylle, Trocheck, and Wheeler on the 3rd line, instead of the finesse and skill of the Kid line, but it is still a concern for this team. The 4th line is what it is. I actually think it is better this year than it has been for a while. Goodrow is a solid 4th line guy, and a mix of Bonino, Vesey, and Pitlick is certainly not great, but better than it has been. Maybe at some point Othmann comes up, and Wheeler moves to the 4th line with Goodrow. That would be a very nice base for a 4th line (think Perry who has been on the TB 4th line the past few seasons), if Othmann proves he is ready after a few weeks/month in the AHL to get acclimated to professional hockey over here.
