?

Do you want the Blazers to tank for a good lotto pick at this point in the season?

He's not 40....and he is drawing doubles ...don't know what you're watching...Melo is Lebrons age...not Tim Duncan's age

35, and you don't need to be doubled to draw a secondary defender's attention for a half-second. Many times that's all it takes to get an open look for a teammate. You're oversimplifying things by focusing solely on double-teams.

It was interesting for me how well those two simple give and go plays worked for us. Was it because they have rarely if ever seen Blazers run it?

When passes lead to turnovers or missed shots, our shooters try to shoot us back into games....there's a reason we've played that way...when they stop turning over that lazy pass...they'll look to pass. At least last night we had two alley oops...when is the last time that happened?

Perhaps he is scouring the boards for tips on how to improve 'The Weave'.

Unfortunately terry your information is incorrect as the corner 3's are the highest percentage 3 point shot as well as that's where more points are scored than the other areas.

Pretty much proves you're not the real Terry Stotts as he would know that kind of information. Maybe you can comeback as Doc Rivers. :bgrin:

yeah, he’s not drawing doubles. He’s beating other teams 3rd-5th best defenders 1 on 1 and shooting 45%. That’s good for a player we got for nothing. It’s nowhere near a player that we should structure our entire offense around.

He's getting doubled and tripled at the rim by their best bigs….Melo earns respect in the paint....if he's getting one on one coverage at the 3pt line, that's because two other guys are getting doubled ..and Hood is the guy they're all leaving open. Melo is playing against starting talent, not scrubs. We're really lucky to have a scoring PF for a change

you guys don’t seem to understand what “drawing a double” means. Nobody is doubling melo when he catches the ball. Having a big come over a couple feet on the occasions where he beats his man at the rim is not “drawing a double.” He doesn’t create any more space, he just posts up or drives while shooting 45% (and this is likely his peak). That’s nowhere close to a player you can build all of your sets around. I’ll take Stotts’ coaching over BonesJones’ any day.

I don't understand how you seem to discount what I find pretty obvious....but it really doesn't matter....Melo is getting attention and getting attention by good players...Chris Paul and Steven Adams doubled him most of the Thunder game....I also think you're ignoring what getting doubled inside the 3 pt line means....I don't need to argue the point...I'll just agree to disagree...and I didn't mention Stotts or Bones in my post so that's coming out of left field in regard to my response. I also don't think watering down Melo's contributions at this point is justified...he's been great with our starters...I'm a fan of how this is working out.

I'm not talking about a postup. Say there's a successful facecut, backscreen, hard curl, or backdoor cut. If that player has a step on his man, it requires help defense to stop them or they'll have a layup. Therefore, it'll collapse the defense or we'll get an easy bucket. These actions are much easier to get against elite defenses, can happen in more rapid succession (giving the offense more chances at it), has a lower likelihood of getting the ball stuck inside in traffic, is much easier on our guards (who don't have to expend a bunch of energy 1 on 1), and these actions can confuse the defense leading to better jumpshots than someone simply going one on one.

Who said we should structure our entire offense around Melo? Did I miss something?

They didn't need to call your boy here, but are you honestly wondering why he is constantly being called out?

Dude, he's been chill for months now and people can't keep him out of their posts. I sense a bit of jealousy that a poster other than you is getting attention.
