Perfect example of a stat monkey getting owned.
Lillard shot 1-11 in to end the game against the Sixers. The ONE shot he made iced the game. Then Melo frosted it with not only a smart play but two more free throws. Melo sucks though. Lillard's efficiency sucked. I want Lillard on the court.

Oh yeah they won that game "In Spite" of Stotts i guess.

There are several games this season that Melo has literally shot us out of. He has to be excellent on offense to balance his poor defense.

It's not really worth arguing about - Melo's PT isn't going anywhere.

    Statisticians don't play the game.

Arm chair "Coaches and GM's" use them to try to sound like they know more than the people who are in the position to make the call and play the actual game.

I would argue that there is no way a bench player "Shoots you OUT of a game". He is the 4th, 5th or 6th option on this team. If he is being asked to keep them in the game then obviously a number of the other 5 options are not doing much either.
    Basketball is a TEAM game.

Yeah stats, aka measurements. He's a good rebounder who doesn't get many rebounds and a good passer who doesn't get many assists. He's a good shooter but the ball doesn't go through the hoop much... or maybe they're miscounting. I do watch the game. They pass him the ball, everyone stands around, and he backs down his guy, then he takes a low % turn-around fade-way. But he does it with style so we're good.

He's got the best turn around jumper than any big on the team.

lol. I'm not sure what's going on.

"Stats are meaningless, watch the games."
I can show you games where he literally shot us out of.
    "It's a team game."

    OK, you like Melo, fine.
You don't care that he doesn't play defense, fine.
I think I understand your position.
It's OK if you don't understand mine.

The Rockets dumped Melo after 10 games. The entire league of actual coaches & GM's passed on Melo.

Without Dame or Melo in the line-up (they have to go to those other players) Blazers still have a TS% of 0.564 which is far better than Melo's 0.529.

What's going on is i addressed a number of the things brought up and i even explained why they were important.
The response was "Stats" but they didn't address anything that i brought up.
Then your response was that you can show me a game where he shot us out of the game.
My response was "How the 5th or 6th option for a team shoot them out?". I'm betting i can show you other issues that were just as or more important in those very same games. Pick your game (No I'm Not Serious) and then we will go look at "Stats" and I'm absolutely sure i can make another issue more important than what Melo shot during his time on the court. It's called "Cherry Picking" to make your point.

Now you want to say I like Melo and that is fine. Which has never once been my stance.
Also nobody anywhere ever said Stats are meaningless.

Then there was another statement about Houston not wanting Melo and a bunch of other GM's not wanting him. I'm betting that for what we have Melo for right now, and with what Melo is doing as a "Bench" contributor on a Minimum Salary, a number of teams could use right now. Obviously with the Blazers down three starters again this year the Blazers are lucky to have him.

all good. I don't want to waste your and my time by going over the arguments one by one. I'm not really trying to convince you of anything.
If you like Melo, fine. If you don't like him, fine.

My personal opinion is that, on the whole (average), his poor defense overshadows whatever offense he provides. Obviously, that's not true every game.

I agree with that. Here is the next thing. Would i rather have a healthy Zach Collins or a better PF that scored and played stellar defense? Sure. But we don't have that. For all his faults we have Melo right now and you got to admit watching him unload on the Sixers when Lillard couldn't buy a bucket was pretty nice.

One last thing. Did he just fall down at the end and get a call? Tell me the truth. Did you think that was worth two shots in that situation?
