Houston is dumb as fuck. They could have had Simmons. They are trying to pawn of Oladipo for a mid first right now. How many do you think they could get for Simmons?

it actually isnt hard to surround a star with role players. Portland did the hard part already (getting the star) but they haven’t really done enough around him.

I'm working on it. It's gonna be a bit. Things are moving slow because of Covid-19 right now. Should happen sometime in the next 12 months or so unless they turn it around a bit and play some solid ball to end the season.

CJ has value around this league with teams that have players that compliment Dame much better than he does. Other coaches have backup plans for if Dame is having an off shooting night and like to coach defense. Nurk has value, Gary's only value to this team after the deadline is as a signed player, Ant and Nas both have value around the league, RoCo is a good player with value. The fact is we have nice pieces. It's not like we're a team devoid of talent. The talent has just been put together by a failed actor who doesn't seem to understand the value of complementary skills. It's also almost not being coached at all. So yeah, when you have the guys under contract that we have, the superstar we have and the half ass head coach and GM we have... it is clearly just as easy as hiring an actual basketball professional at GM and that person would make this roster into a contender.

If we didn't have Dame. If we didn't have CJ, Nurk, Nas, Ant and RoCo. If our coach looked like he was really challenging our players and giving them a coherent plan of attack. If we didn't have those things then I would think it would be a GM job no one would want but I think a lot of basketball people would be drooling over the chance to straighten this shit out. But maybe I'm a homer that's just disillusioned with the current management.

Dame didnt hit any threes last game and only 3 this game, so 3-21 (14%) from three the past 2 games

That knee that got crushed by I want to say Richardson, might be giving him a little trouble even if there isn't any structural damage. It's probably bruised up and doesn't feel the same when he pushes off with it or the guy forgot how to shoot or something else I have no idea about. I guess we'll see.

I'm not saying that things are good (I've been on the shit can stotts bandwagon for a while), but there's a reason why 11 teams have own the title since 1980 or some such year. It's not an easy thing to do.

That's bleak. It is a possibility that we have another exit before getting a conference finals win and the ownership allows us to go even further down the rabbit hole of unprecedented lack of success coupled with length of tenure that Stotts and Olshey have... enjoyed, it really does seem like the guys enjoy the mediocrity. That being said, nothing lasts forever and a decade, even a successful one, in professional sports is just about forever. So I just don't expect this team that we see around Dame being here at the beginning of next season unless the best possible thing happens and we make a push towards winning a title that includes winning games in the conference championship. Then lets keep this thing going, add a little more and win a chip.

Very unfortunat that Dame is throwing away his MVP chances, while Jokic plays like a Monster. He will never get a better Chance in his career than this season

I don't expect a parade. I expect a roster with this talent to yield conference finals wins or more. That's all. I think we have a really great player in Dame and a bunch of talented guys that never belonged on the same roster together. I also think we have a coach that was disinterested or incapable of adapting years ago. So those elements give me hope that if we had a real GM, we would be actually competitive, instead of pretend competitive.

I think the only way that they become a team to win a few games in the conference finals, is to not "fire sale" the roster, and try to rebuild around Dame (for what would be the 3rd time).

Almost always you have to finish 1st/2nd in your conference to win MVP. That was highly unlikely given we don't have a top 4 roster in the West when healthy.

May I suggest not watching something you hate? Would probably be better for you and everyone else.

I would still trade CJ for Harden straight up. Imagine all that lob passes to DJ

    This was a no-brainer then, it's a no-brainer now.

Olshey prefers to shuffle around bench forwards to make a championship splash.
