Sadly it goes back to what I said after game two. They blew three separate two goals leads in just a disgusting loss.
Kings better team. We all knew that going in. We took them to OT 3 times in LA and hit 4 posts. What are you gonna do? We are close but more tweaking needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
that makes no sense..close games but not close series...what!? they played an extra 5 periods..over 6 full games...its fucking close Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Nobody expected them to get there, but it's still frustrating when you look at all the missed opportunities. Oh well, still a great season.
It's a downer and disappointing but in the end it's a 4-1 series loss. It's not like this was a game six or seven. You can see what this Ranger team is/was missing to get them over the top. Lundy played all world these final two games but tonight especially didn't get the support.
Agree to disagree Al. All good. I personally don't consider a 5 game series a close series. Many will disgaree. I can't say wow what a close series that went 5 games. You can have close individual games but not have a close overall series IMO Al. Agree to disagree, All good.
Anyone who says a team that wins 3 games out of the 4 in OT and 2 in double OT dominated is crazy. We had chances to win every friggin OT game and just couldn't put one in. We could have won this 4-1 just as easily. OT's are crapshoots and the hockey gods shot the crap all over us.
The point I do understand though is that it defies a five game series to lose three games in overtime.
No one said dominated mel. No way we were dominated. But a 4-1 series is not a close series overall. Individual games can be close, all one goal outside of game 3, but when the same team wins almost all the close games and wins the series 4-1 it is not a close series overall IMO.
Game 2 was the killer Mess. You called that, and it is 100% dead on. That was the game we 100% needed to win to make this a long series. I really believe that is the bottom line.
No mel, we disagree. It could have been 4-1, but it wasn't that's the point. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. Could have means ZERO. And they could have easily swept us with the way game 4 played out. All that stuff is BS. FACTS...we lost 4-1. We didn't even get to game 6. Individual games were all close except for game 3, but the same team won almost all of them. I simply cannot call a series that didn't even reach game 6 a close series overall. Sorry...we agree to disagree there. All good.
You are splitting hairs Chuck. 4-1 or 4-3, who cares if you lose 3 games in OT to a better team. I am not going to bitch about this team. They overachieved this year. Finals disappointing as we had several players underachieve but a little more puck luck and they might have won this series in 5 and be hoisting the Cup. Bottom line is they could have easily won all 3 games in LA and the loss in the Garden had 3 goals scored on deflections off Rangers. Team is not there yet. Richards must go. Nash is a disaster in the playoffs. Staal and Girardi were horrific but the team core has some years left.....I am optimistic about the future and proud of the team
Very proud of this team. They didn't die and far exceeded what I thought they would do this season. Already looking forward to next season. First order of business is buying out richards. After that hopefully picking up a center with size that can score, a nasty d-man and in addition to that get Mcilreith up here. Strahlman can leave whenever he's ready. Hopefully a couple more young guys like miller, fasth and lindbergh are added to the team and AV molds this team to his system.
And that does NOT mean we got dominated or owned or destroyed, but at days end a 4-1 series cannot be a close series overall IMO.
Assuming you buy the theory that great teams make their own breaks the Kings certainly did this series.
I agree with everything you said Dis. No doubt about that. We are all proud of this team, and rightfully so. Nash we are F'd with. Richards who cares he will be done within 10 days. From there we see what we do with the cap going up 5.5 mill or so.
