Zach didn't shoot the ball well but still had 7 points 8 rebounds that a good sign and 2 blocks so not bad.

Zach just looks so much better near the basket. His development is more important than maybe getting a serviceable contribution from Meyers for another season. Dump Meyers and let Zach do his thing.

    Oh and yes, start Layman.

Brooke was dead on when she said Jake was fun to watch tonight. The no look from ET for the long alley-oop was one of the best no look passes I have ever seen considering the distance.

Curry's play has been huge for the bench. He looks so much more comfortable out there over the last few weeks.

As much as I'd like him to start, he may be the consistent spark off the bench this team needs. He will be the 4th option with the starters but either #1 or #2 off the bench and they will look for his cuts more. As long as he is getting 25+ minutes per night and helping to close games, maybe he is perfect off the bench.

    Thoughts?

Was JUST discussing this with a friend. Is it you??!!
Where he has clearly "won" the job, but maybe it's better for the team to have him as an actual option for turner off the bench, and play big minutes, and have harkless "starting" the way vonleh did, just as a way to stagger minutes

Sure. But I want him playing with Nurk.

And you can say oh it was the suns, but I though Layman went toe to toe with Oubre, a guy who’s been balling for Phoenix. In many ways Layman looked like the better player.

Let’s say we get Taurean Prince and dump Meyers. How is this team just not flat out better?

    Dame
    CJ
    Prince/Layman
    Aminu
    Nurkic

    Curry
    Turner
    Layman/Prince
    Harkless
    Collins

Playing 25+ minutes, especially if he is closing in the 4th will get him at least some minutes with Nurkic. I want him getting those backcuts from Nurk as well and if he comes in at the 6 minutes mark and then again early in the 3rd and closing minutes in the 4th, he should get a good run with the big man.

At lot of people assume that Collins is the PF of the future. Having him play the 5 doesn't make since if he is going to be the 4 next to Nurk in the future.

The play of Layman just shows that we need better quality production from the position overall. Trade for Prince or Ross and then pair them off with Layman. We can live with Harkless starting because Jake makes up the difference and sparks the bench. But we deserve better from our wings overall. Deserve, right Rupp?

Always nice to get a road win and go 2-1 on a 3 game road trip.
    Good job Blazers!

Given the schedule, you figure a win against the Suns and a split against the Jazz/Thunder. Mission accomplished.

Maybe, but right now he is playing way better around the basket. Currently his outside shot is pretty bad.
So for this year I would play him inside and play Aminu and Harkless at PF. (plus Zach when the match up is needed)

I would trade Meyers, but I would not dump him. The guy is shooting 60% from the field and 44% from deep.

At this point they better think long and hard about getting rid of Meyers. I don't give a rats azz about what the haters want to say. The dude is a quality backup big right now. Are there better? Yes. Can the Blazers get one that is better? Now that is the $10 million question now isn't it? get real tired of reading "Dump Meyers" when the guy has been here, knows the offense, is shooting his ass off, and wants to be with this team.
