So you are just going to ignore all the off season benefits all because you might be able to trade him?

How are the Bulls doing in their attempt to trade a super valuable $20 million expiring contract?

Okay then, I can't really argue against a firm opinion on something that isn't taking common sense into the equation.

Some of the polls I think @Darkwebs just sits back, laughs, and says to himself, “I got them again.”

Only of they want out of said contract, which means it's most likely a bad contract. You know how many big expiring contracts there are next season? Nobody's going to trade a good player just to get back an expiring. Doesnt early work like that.

The fact that Turner got so many votes in the poll, Stauskas got only 1 and Swanigan got only 2 shows me what a worthless place this forum has become

Turner is one of our most important players, he could make twice the money as far as I'm concerned, it's not like we're getting under the cap anyway.
I hope you try and watch him more closely and realise what an asset he is for us. He runs the offense for the 2nd unit and many times for the starters, he allows our shooters to play off the ball, he has maybe the highest basketball IQ of anyone on the team and even though he is a terrible shooter (who once buzzer-beat us with Boston) he has a good all around talent

I agree on the contract issues but for me it's much much simpler than that. Evan Turner simply does not do much at all for this team except give good interviews and say some funny stuff on the court. How many multiple possession turnover endings are we gonna see this season? We are talking three and four consecutive turnovers in a row and just handing the other team 6-10 point turnarounds? And we are not talking basic turnovers. These are bad mind numbing turnovers out at mid court leading to multiple breakaway DUNKFEST baskets. Passes at peoples knees than bounce the other way again leading to tomahawk dunks. It absolutely demoralizes the team at times. You can just see the expression on Dame's fame as he gets back up off the bench to get back in the game early so he can stop the bleeding and Turner says some kind of "Quip" about not getting a reaching call.
This and Aminu (Just like last game on three occasions) trying to drive into 2 or 3 defenders and never having a thought of passing the ball and stopping the trainwreck are just about the most frustrating things to watch with this team for me this year.

"Guyz, Turner should make $36M a year. The team gets outscored by 8 points per 100 possessions when hes on the court, so obviously hes important to our success."

Could you imagine a team signing him for $36 Million? Turner might be a great locker room guy but he ain't that good.

Case closed. Turner is now the only acceptable answer to this poll.

But it is. I'm surprised you don't see that? The question is "which player should we cut and shed their contract?". All shedding ET's contract will do is streamline the payroll. The Blazers won't be getting an effective player in return. My opinion is that the plan has always been to wait until the 19-20 season or after to make significant deals. Having ET's expiring deal at that point will be a useful tool. Your recommendation of dumping ET now is just going to make us worse. Dumping Moe now will not make us worse in my opinion. Hey, but you're free to disagree with me. I don't get mad or anything.

How does dumping ET make us worse? I've already mentioned that in his 3 seasons here every advanced metric proves that we are worse off when he's in the lineup. That literally means that it would be addition by subtraction.

I've also mentioned why shedding ET's contract is useful. Ever since we've signed him we've had 3 straight seasons of having the tax effect every move we make. It's why we didn't use the trade exception to add a player like Mirotic. It's why we gave away Vonleh. It's why we let Ed Davis walk. It's why in the summer of 2017 we didn't even use our MLE to sign anyone (guys like Tyreke Evans signed for cheap that summer). It's why we only had enough money to sign Curry and Stauskas this summer instead of getting a better player (like a Julius Randle who signed for the full-MLE). This summer the free agent pool is going to be crazy and there are going to be good players signing for way less than they're worth. Having the full-MLE is a huge bonus.

I've already explained why the value of his expiring deal isn't what you think it is. All of the crappy contracts of 2016 are all expiring next year. Almost every team has one of those guys left. This last summer Denver had to give up multiple picks to get rid of Faried, Chandler, and Arthur ALL of whom were on expiring contracts. Do you think waiting is worth it if we STILL had to give up a pick to get rid of him? I also mentioned that the Bulls have a $20 million expiring contract this season and so far no one wants it. Having expiring contracts is fine but you don't forego an opportunity to ditch a bad contract just to use it in a trade. Leonard and Harkless combine for over $22 million next year in expiring contracts. We don't need more than that. Using expiring contracts in trades are usually because you have to take a bad contract back. So you want to keep Turner so we can use him to bring in another bad contract?
