True, but they did hold his Bird Rights. So, it would have been more accurate to say they didn't even consider, for one second, making a counter offer.

Would have had to be New Boston. Putting Old Boston in New England and Old England needing a newer Boston but then Old Portland in New England might be able to have an NBA team? Who knows?

So, we're better off playing 4 on 5 on offense with a guy who is so bad he doesn't even consider scoring? I'm not seeing your point here. Unless your point is based on a 1 game sample size. For the season:

    Evan Turner: TS% = .519, 3FG% = .308
    Al-Farouq Aminue: TS = .545, 3FG% = .402

Given the choice, I'll take my chances with Chief at the 3.

Vonleh offensive rating last year was higher than Aminus. By 6.

If that's the stat were using, then it further supports my argument of Vonleh at the 4 and Chief at the 3. Although, my motivation was Vonleh's defense against DET's big front line.

    This year:
    Chief ORtg = 108
    Turner ORtg = 101

I agree with Aminu at the three and Vonleh at the four. I was just arguing the whole 5 on 4 take.

We’re gonna end up trading Vonleh and Nurkic and dying with Aminu and DeAndre. Fun times!!

But hey at least Neil can say he went down with his own guys.

Whatever. Go ahead and take your chances with that line up. Either way by next year we will need a SF who can shoot and dribble.

By next year? We've needed one for the last three years. Turner can dribble, but can't shoot. Aminu has improved his shooting, but can't (and shouldn't) dribble.

I didn't even have to read down to this point to go: "Oh, so you want BNM to use ORtg/DRtg, huh?" Knew this post was coming in 3...2...1...

I mean I don’t like the stat either but it’s pretty good way to gauge how a unit plays together. I just like Vonleh more at PF. He makes things easier for Nurk as well. I’d love to see what the numbers are with those two together.

You are preaching to the choir on that one. But until then I would rather have ET who shot 53% from the field and 46% from 3 in January. We have to have a 3rd ball handler in there. Stotts knows this and it is why he even tries Napier in there during crunch time. But of course that is not the answer long term either.

BNM and I have had some convivial discussions on this in the past...personally, I think that there's some merit to that, but similar to what Stotts was saying, the samples of Vonleh playing with anyone in a 5-man unit are noise, statistically. It's a fun data point to look at, but I don't think (and I am happy to be corrected if wrong) the statistical even-out point is anything less than 600 minutes or so.

Aminu is a really good player man... he has turned himself from a Corey Brewer type into a Trevor Ariza type in three years.

Aminu is an average player (when he's not making idiotic mistakes) who will hold us back as long as he's in the starting unit.

If Turner were good enough of a ball handler to count as a third, then why would Napier be needed?

It's because Turners reputation as a ball-handler is overstated. He's adequate, but in no way is he 'good'.

So this entire premise that we need him as a 3rd ball handler is false
