No rim protection? Jesus, they scored at will inside including that bum Tatum. Not to mention the game clenching offensive rebound.

Constant line drives to the rim and a lack of rebounding.

They are lit only when Mr. Allen is in the building. Like the flags outside of the White House and Buckingham Palace.

I agree that not having Nurkic on the court made Boston more likely to drive. I don't think that Nurkic being on the court would have actually offered us any more rim protection (as 42% 3p% shooting Horford would have pulled him out of the paint), but I think Nurkic's presence would have made the Boston players hesitate before driving.

I think the rest of our players should have been able to effectively rebound without Nurkic out there, so I reckon that's more on our players than on Stotts.

If it was me, I would have played Nurkic at the end, and trusted him to both cover Horford on the three point line, and come off of him to cover the rim when the time was right. I also would have trusted the rest of our players to rotate properly if the ball was kicked out to Horford.

Additionally there's a case to be made that our offence would have been more effective at the end with Nurkic setting screens, and rolling hard to the rim.

All that said, I don't think it was as clear cut a decision as some people are making it out to be. I reckon it was a line ball call, and by all evidence, probably one that Stotts got wrong. But I don't think it was an egregious error, that warrants people abusing Stotts over.

It's a very bad loss. The next two are the kind of games we could easily lose and I would prefer approaching them knowing that we could tie our record with 2-3 teams if we do lose them both.

    welp tough loss.
    Onto the next.
Won't read too much into it due to how well the Celtics have played without key players.

It's going to be a rough night when your best guard coming off the bench is Patty. He's grown on me, but man, he is just not a very skilled player. Get well soon, Shabazz!

Our bench was horrific and Stotts decided not to use his timeouts until it was too late, par usual.

Blazers outscored them in the paint by 20+ but had 11 less FTA. Felt like the refs swallowed their whistles a little too often against the Blazers, but it also felt like the Blazers continue to commit some really dumb fouls.

Marcus Morris always kills the Blazers.

    Beat OKC!

Can't lose to depleted teams like this, especially at home.

As said by one of the most unfairly criticised posters here, Dame not in arcade mode is going to be a problem.

They must be considered to be a vital part of the game and like in all sports, fans and players either question their calls or applaud their judgement. They are kind of like judges on the court. As far as Portland fans expressing themselves, it's easier to blame them unless they called the game so awful they deserved public hangings. thODGLDEYG.jpg

Haven’t read any of this game thread yet. I read the whole thing after a win. After a loss, much harder.

My thoughts. We played a good game until the second unit sucked in the fourth. But the game was still in reach. Then "WTF Terry!!!" I love Stotts. He's an excellent coach. I don't know shit about basketball by comparison. But to my mind, with the game on the line, you don't sub out one of your best players for one of your worst players. You don't let the enemy dictate your lineup. The result was predictable. No defense, two easy layups, a key missed rebound, and you still didn't shut down the three.

I gotta commend Nurk on another freakin amazing defensive game. Offense was good too.

Over the last month and a half they have lost twice to Pacers at home, were blown out by Cavs, Clippers and Raptors. We should have beaten them.

Hey thanks for agreeing with me that this was a tough loss.
    Thanks for your imput.
    :smack:

But as I said, I'm not going to read too much into this.
As I've stated what Portland is previously. Don't need to repeat myself.

Some of you are overreacting. Blazers were not a championship team even with the win streak even if we had won the last two games. If you thought that, you set yourself up for disappointment. But this team has made huge strides. We are much much better than earlier this season, on both offense and defense. Losing two games doesn't change that.
