Thats cuz we played stupid and waited 8 seconds to foul. Ruined the whole strategy. The point of it is to increase number of possessions. We defeated that by waiting to foul.

Seriously. I get pissed off at games like this easier than almost anyone. Having a troll like that is the most annoying shit and results in me posting things I don't like. Dudes like that just bring the whole forum down. I think we have a lot of smart dudes on this forum and if somebody read the past few pages with exchanges between him and others, they would likely decide not to join.

My biggest problem with Stotts is the stiffness in his defensive adjustments. Just let the other team keep doing what the want. Stick to your principles, stick to your principles.

Newflash, sometimes you face players that are too good to just stick to your principles.

Davis is a keeper for sure.

I don't know what to make of Plumlee. He's had defensive problems against a number of centers. But he doesn't shoot well enough to play PF, or really have the speed to defend against quick PF's.

Davis and Plumlee are at the least excellent backup bigs.

We need a defensive coordinator, if only Thibs would accept that kind of position.

That's not the problem with you, and if you really don't know what is then you are clueless.

He would have fouled out tonight; seriously some games we're allowed to play defense and Rome games we're not.

Agree. I like both, they just physically outmatched against legit big men. I think they've played their asses off this season though, and I think we were lucky to get bigs of their quality for this season.

I wanna hire Tony Bennett. That dude knows how to coach defense.

You really do need to stop trolling.

And what you never address in your ongoing rant about wanting this team to tank is that means telling the players to intentionally lose. I just don't see Lillard and team doing that.

Lets just think about this "strategy" for a moment:

Down by 3 with less than 24 to play. Going for a quick 2 means you will have to foul. It also means they will put in their best free throw shooters. It also means you will foul one of them. It also means they will most likely hit both. Even if they miss one, you still will likely take a 3 to win the game, only now you have 7 seconds left and not 22. And if they make both free throws, as almost always happens, you still have to take a 3 to tie it, but again, you only have 7 seconds.

All roads point to the fact that you are way better off keeping the ball, not taking the quick 2, and shooting a three on your terms from the start.

Agreed, the single most frustrating thing officiating wise IMO.

Yeah I'm not excited for us to see slow footed Meyers coming of an 8 month injury guarding the best young athletic big man in the league.

    Our answer is elsewhere.

Yes, but he's still 7 feet. And wide. And wily. He can play for 3.5 seconds I think.

Stotts is an offensive genius but he's had 4 years to figure out defense and it's resulted in these rankings:

    26th
    16th
    10th
    20th

IIRC last year we were pretty good until Wes went down but the moment he went down I think we went from like 3rd to 27th or something drastic. Wes is not the difference between 3rd and 27th. Stotts needs some help.
