I can't blame this on the refs. I thought they did fine except that Nurk/Hart thing got botched. Thought Hart should be ejected. This is ALL on the bench tonight.

Yea those 8 mins led to the 20 point lead. And seth was 0-5 and I think he played most of last quarter. There definitely should have been a change for Layman or Nic early in there

I've said this a thousand times. Stotts can only draw the play up. He cannot make the team execute. He also cannot prevent defenses from reacting. He also cannot make the shots for the team. He has to stay on the sidelines and the team has to play.
The word around the league is that Stotts is one of the very best at drawing up a play or situation to give his team a chance to score. That is all i know. But it is a fact that players respect him and he is well liked.

I agree. Take it out on the Wolves. But the bench needs to show up.

It wasn't 8 mins. That was 5 mins for Biggie. Leonard played two of his minutes with Collins and one at the end of the game.

He used to draw up some nice plays coming out of time outs, but it seems like he shot his wad about 2 years ago and his Viagra hasn't kicked in or something... Sorry I know that's not funny. Anyways, it just seems like to me he is either not drawing up good plays, or he's drawing up plays his team can execute. Multiple times every game they come out of a time out with a bad shot, or a turnover, then bad defense.
I realize he can't go out on the court "do it" for them, but his job is to know his personal and draw up plays they can execute. I just think his in game coaching the last year or so has lacked a lot of creativity. If I as a dude just watching the games can you tell you what play they're running when they get to half court, the rest of the NBA knows whats coming too.

The one i'd like to have is Ingram. He didn't have a great game tonight but that guy will be very good for a long time IMO.

I thought Meyers was yanked for Biggie whatever the case those two caused the 3rd quarter meltdown. On the bright side we almost staged a comeback from one of our worst shooting nights of the season. We should be able to batter them in our normal groove.

Then why is he worse than all other coaches out of timeouts, and consistently so?

Can't argue with you there. But i would also like to add. You are not just a regular dude. You are an avid Blazer fan that watches pretty much every minute of every game. You probably know more about what the Blazers tendencies are than most coaches coming into a game against the Blazers. Honestly we on here are not typical fans. We know way way more about this team than most.

That would be your opinion. I cannot argue against you there. I would say he is very very good out of timeouts from what i have seen of other coaches.

This is something I pay a ton of attention to. He's very bad. Wish there was some statistic on it.

It's a game of "Buckets". If you want to win you gotta make more that the team you are playing. Tonight the Blazers finally had a bad shooting night against the Lakers. It was bound to happen. Not only that i have a feeling the Lakers were playing a bit for their coach who just got kicked in the nuts by Magic.

I really don't think he is that bad. But i'm sure he has had situations not work. This team roster has changed little in the last three years. I do know Mason Plumlee was very good in those situations. We also had better players making the inbound pass. Aminu can't do it. Harkless has been hurt. Layman seems to be a little young. They used PatCon quite a bit last year.
When the Blazers had Nic Batum always inbounding they were better for sure.

Maybe KJ has a point about the microscope some of us have on the Blazers, I think that's fair.
I pay alot to when TO's get called and how they do when they come out of them. To me they struggle on both sides. They didn't call a TO to stop the bleeding in the third. Then with 9.8 second and one to left, they didn't even try to see if they had a quick in bound and get the ball up the court, they just took the TO which was pretty much ball game. Then on the flip side twice in this game they called a time out came out of it and had 2 bad offensive possessions and two bad defensive possessions back to back to back to back.

I know Stotts isn't the worst coach in the NBA, I'd peg him like in the middle somewhere. I just felt like after the Pelicans series last year, I had seen what the Stotts, CJ, Dame, etc had, and I wanted to see what the players as a group would look like under a different system.
I'll give Stotts some credit, the bench (outside of tonight), has looked really good, they've moved the ball, played good defense.

That’s my argument. Ed Davis should be getting both of their minutes. We let him go for a pack of swisher sweets. We would be elite w/ Ed coming off the bench instead of Meyers and Caleb

I think if we still had Ed, he’d be the first big off the bench, and we wouldn’t have seen the emergence of Collins.

I’m watching the Adelaide v Brisbane NBL game, and as part of the broadcast deal we get to listen in to the timeouts (except for the last two minutes of each quarter). At various stages both coaches have been swearing their heads off at their players, even the coach that is well know as a “players coach”. Somehow I can’t imagine Stotts ever getting that fired up.
