It takes a little while to get going. The books are even worse. It's really hard to keep track of all the houses and families and crests. The show makes it easier to follow, but there's a ton of politics and buildup, but it's worth it. Once shit pops off, it gets violent. Edit- and I will add that the casting was superb. Quality actors.

I agree. The only scene I wasn't a big fan of was when Jon and Daenerys went on a romantic ride together with the dragons. That was kinda cheesy. I liked how it ended, with Bran and Jaime looking at each other.
That scene could have been different, but it was key to show the dragons be cool with Jon, since he is a Targaryen (Aegon). Also the prophecy Melisandra mentioned about the prince and princess rider.
