They could have focused a bit less on Dany's expressions, maybe, but I agree that the dragon riding was an important moment. I don't know if it was intended, but Dany looking at the waterfalls and saying that they could stay there for a thousand years and no one would ever find them struck me as echoing, a bit, Jon and Ygritte, when Ygritte half-seriously suggested that they stay in the pool in the cave forever. Jon and the women he falls in love with end up with nice moments just before life complications are due to come in and probably destroy things.
It's probably a bad idea but my 16 year old finally convinced me to let her watch the show. I watched the first episode right before I watched the season 8 premiere (after everyone else had gone to bed) and I was thinking the exact same thing about how similar they were.
I was actually hoping the scene where they rode off on the dragons was going to be about getting the dragons something better to eat or figuring out why they weren't eating instead of a romantic getaway. How creepy was the dragon staring at Jon Snow while they were making out though?
