I was just saying there were a few times in the game where boykins made him look a little sloppy.

Very nice game by the Lakers. It should be a nice year and defintely espect alot of pushing the ball into high flying fast pace action this season. Fun to watch after that bum is finally outta there. lol

oh yeah i saw that. boykins was really guarding him tight but he still continued to fight the ball with boykins. he should have just passed it when he got upcourt.

One thing about Tierre's passing that worries me is his tendancy to jump before he passes. I don't know why he does it, but it does put alot of speed into the pass...however, if he gets up in the air and he doesn't find anyone, he's stuck and there's another turnover.

I think alot of it had to do with him playing his first game in purple and gold, with high expectations. He'll get over it.

Yea, i'm not to worried I just hope we have a good consistent backup for atkins. Atkins may not be a star point guard but he is a solid ball handler and can control the ball and his passes and thats all we need from a point guard perspective. As kobe will be the one really getting guys open shots.

nice game by the lakers. wad was suprising was that denver was outscored on the fast break by the LAKE-SHOW. it was great seeing denver lose its cool in the third quarter. i thought i would never say this but im starting to like the lakers, especially after they gotten rid of the two bums.

Mihm is great for this style of basketball. If he improves his interior D, I'll be content with his play.

Never been so glad to be wrong about a prediction like I was about this one.

EXCELLENT game by the Lakers, especially Mihm and Kobe. That block was just amazing. Defence overrated? Ha. And that wasn't even the only block, the other 2 were nice as well. Excellent game, excellent defence, excellent everything. Hopefully this carries on towards the Jazz, yet another elite (more so then the Laker in many "professional" analysts eyes) team in the West.

But I also know not to base everything on one game though so I dont wanna jump too ahead. I still remember Vince Carter's slide after putting up 39 against NJ and then dissappearring. But of course, Kobe is no Vince and the Lakers are much greater then the Raptors roster-wise.

Man I hope they follow up good tonight cause if they don't almost everyone will say that was just luck last night. Now these next two games will be very interestingnot because they are playing the Jazz and the spurs but becuase of the defenders on each team. We have seen how kobe can shred you apart if you double but i'll be willing to bet tonight as well as friday night that kobe is played straight up for themajority of the game. Andre kirelenko will play him tonight and bruce bowen on friday. I just wonder will the other lakers still get the same oppurtunities now that kobe is in single coverage and will proably only be doubled when in the paint.

Wow, I loved that game. And can alrealy tell that Kobe block is one of the nominees for one of the best blocks. He lost the ball on one end and went ALL THE WAY to the other way to get the clean block, thats was amazing. What I'm saying is that I love this new team. But I didn't see the whole game so can anyone tell me how much points Kobe scored in the 4th quater? LOL, in the half he had like 5 points.

He scored 8 in the fourth and i think 10 in the third. Hehe to be honest he took a few Kobe shots those almost impossible to cover and impossible to make. I think thats why his Fg percentage was low take away three shots and it dosen't look bad at all.

Chris Mihm is a real contributor in my NBA Live 2005 dynasty season. He can really block shots and rebound the ball but not score this much. Nineteen points at halftime? That was nice, I was shaking my head. I thought it would be nice to keep letting him shoot the ball in the second half to really boost his confidence for the remainder of the season but he ended scoring only 3 in the half so. We may have gotten the steal in this guy... Kobe has gotta keep him involved now after all rising stars gotta keep confident and not put their heads down after a disappointing performance.

Game MVP
Chris Mihm 23PTs 12REBs 2BLKs

Chris Mihm led the Lakers on offense with 19 points in the first half along with 9 boards. He held his own against the much talked about frontline of the Nuggets, Camby, KMart, and Nene. With large shoes to fill, Chris Mihm did a great job in the middle replacing Shaq. He gave the Lakers a lot of energy and did a good job releasing off of pick and rolls.

Game Leaders

Key to Victory
Lakers outscored the Nuggets 19-6 on fastbreak points.

The Lakers opened the season with an impressive win over the Denver Nuggets. The new look Lakers were exciting to watch on offense and defense. The Alley Oop from Kobe to Caron got the Lakers going early, and Kobe was the water cooler topic after he recovered from a turnover, sprinted down the court and swatted Andre Miller's layup attempt.

The Lakers did a great job of making the extra pass, something we did not see a lot of last season. Everyone on the Lakers played unselfishly and tried to get their teammates open, uncontested shots. I was also impressed with the defensive efforts led by Caron Butler. He caused a lot of deflections and did a good job of defending the Nuggets best scorer, Carmelo Anthony. The Lakers held the Nuggets to only 34% from the field.

Game Trivia
The Lakers have won 12 of their last 13 home openers and 15 of their last 16 home games against the Nuggets.

I'll try to post up quarterly updates. So far the game is being delayed because the Jazz cannot get the basketball rim to balance.
