The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards, 98-92, in the first consolation round of the Las Vegas Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Friday. The Mavericks led by as much as 18 points late in the first quarter but the Wizards slowly whittled away Dallas’ lead down to one by the half. The lead changed hands 10 times in the second half, with the Mavs finally pulling away in the closing minutes.
