Carmona pitched seven solid innings and Ryan Garko hit athree-run homer in the first inning as the Indians completed athree-game sweep of the defending American League-championTigers with a 5-3 victory on Sunday. The 23-year-old Carmona held one of the majors' best hittingteams to just three runs and nine hits in seven innings to earnhis sixth straight win for Cleveland, which went just 6-13against Detroit last season but held the potent offense to 10runs in the series while taking a 2 1/2-game lead in the ALCentral. The converted reliever got the bad taste out of his mouth fromthe last time he took the mound against the Tigers. Therighthander allowed a walk-off two-run homer to Ivan Rodriguezin a 4-3 loss on August 5.
