Well bad game by the Blazers. Hats off to Boston, they beat us good again. Not much else to say. At the end of the year this loss will count as much as every other win/loss. We're 3-1 on the current road trip, let's just put this beatdown behind us and move on to the next. Losing isn't fun but the beat goes on... Rome wasn't built in a day... Can't win 'em all... What doesn't kill us makes us stronger... Umm, etc.
I think it is. That's what really matters right now; this game had potential to be a big win, but really, we lost and it's just a loss that tells us we're not superhuman. So we lost to the champs. Big deal. Lots of teams have lost to them this year. The stakes for us were low, but the potential reward was high. You lose and you're just another 14-7 team. You win, and you're kings for a week. I think it's pretty easy to pick yourself up after this game and punish the next team. We did it after our last couple losses (Chicago, anyone?). I feel pretty lousy for the loss, but not about the team. Off night, great opponent. Shit happens.
My excuse for the 21-0 run was that the team wanted to make Rudy feel more at home, so we took a siesta at the end of the 2nd quarter and the beginning of the third. Halftime simply isn't enough time to properly rest if you're a Spaniard.
I do have the feeling this loss will do more to motivate than demoralize, so it's hopefully not all bad.
One of those turnovers was a double dribble where he was fouled hard and almost put it down on Garnett. Bayless showed me something tonight, and it wasn't a reminder of Jarrett Jack.
Not sure how you deduced that from today's performance, I can only surmise that you've seen us play other teams.
Do we get more lottery balls? We were only one number away from getting Rose. Dumping those 13 wins would have given us a much better chance at him!
Yes, Bayless had a couple TO's but I think he will learn. Did you notice what he said to Rudy when he made that bad lob pass. He was saying it was his fault and you could tell it was really bothering him. He has hardly played so I would give Bayless a little slack. He played with more guts then most of those so called starters tonight.
I'm not saying he didn't show me something, but I think it is premature to annoint him a better PG than either Blake or Sergio based on one garbage time performance.
Rudy has a very weird pattern in games this year. He's either scorching hot or ice cold (seemingly) I really hope he works on his dribble drive and doing more than going up for "oops" and taking catch and shoot threes. He's so fucking talented that it's frustrating to see him settle for the shots he gets at times. Still love everything else he does on the floor, so I can't complain too much.
One of the things I like most about Bayless is he appears to be a complete dick. Our teams needs to be a little less nice.
At this point I'd say Frye deserves no more minutes Diogu. I've been on Frye's case sense the first game of the season. I still remember how terrible he played against the Lakers.
Garbage time is racking up your minutes against another team's reserves, Bayless was still aggressive and taking it to the hole when Rivers put his starters back in. It's a very small sample size, but I don't think that attacking mentality is going away any time soon.
Great game guys, I know losing sucks, but losing to a championship team, losing to the best defensive team in the league is nothing to be sad about. You still will make the playoffs and hopefully at that point Oden will be a bit more dominant so that you have a chance of advancing.
I didn't follow the game thread while the game was happening, but it seemed to me Roy (and the team) was never right after his 1st half hammy grab. Nate might have been holding him out the 2nd half for precautionary reasons. I thought it was so national media that the announcers were completely focused on the feelings of Boston's bench player in the 4th rather then the conspicuous absence of Portland's best player STOMP
