i wish i could show u game tape of his few games as a rap. he was left open and he jacked up shots in his initial starts but he hit them but he was inconsistent as the season progressed, thats what hurt moon. teams leave him open for a reason
You don't have to show me tapes, I've seen every game the last 9 years. I've seen every game with Moon and I remember when he started and how he finished. He made shots, and that's expected when you're in the NBA, but he shouldn't be waiting on the 3 point line. I don't mind he work on his 3 to give himself more range, but take 1 or 2 tops, until you can make them more than once every 20 minutes. He was brought in for his athleticism and his defense, which came hand and hand. No one thought he would be shooting 3's. My problem was when he drove, he didn't have space, but if they ran pick and roles, he barley drove. The dude can jump over any one. yet, he drives and shoots fad-a-ways. Man, I'm a huge Moon supporter, but I've had to face the facts that he is shying away from his game. Shooting J's is not his game. Driving and drawing fouls is. Playing good man-on-man defense (which is overrated in his case) and he didn't do that this season.
what u need to understand is that im not defending moon, im criticizing colangelo for allowing moon to assume a prominent position on the team
What was wrong with having a prominent position? So, you just don't let players who can play well, not play well? It was a shot in the dark and it worked out. We paid nothing for him and got a great first season out of him. But he screwed it up himself. BC didn't play for Moon or tell Moon how to play. Moon should of stuck to his strengths and could of been a big part of our team if he drove and drew fouls. But he didn't, so he's gone.
You can have it both ways. There's no way we should have entered this season with Jamario Moon pencilled in as our starting 3. He had shown too many glaring weaknesses the past season for that to be acceptable. At the same time, you can be frustrated with Moon's inability to develop his own game and maximize his talent. After years of playing in the fringe of the NBA, he finally got a golden opportunity and just got ridiculously complacent. He could have/should be a much better player than he is. That was an embarassing second half. Bargnani played like it was December. The team team predictably struggled, having no real frontcourt.
