The Clippers announcers (who were as awesome as always, btw) kept harping back to what Roy said to one of them before the game tonight about how he just doesn't have the explosion he used to. So, it's clear that realizes he can't be as effective. The opponents realize it.

    Why can't Nate?

I really think Roy can be a fringe all star in a new role as an off ball player once he embraces it. He's a great midrange shooter, and his outside shot is very respectable. As a 30mpg starter, he can still be very effective. But he is not the go to guy he was a few years ago. Our fuckin coach is just oblivious to it.

My thoughts exactly. Miles was a waste of skin

I got the Mikes tonight on league pass, but the Clips announcers are one of my favorites

I honestly think Roy could change his game to be more of a situation player, or run off screens/etc, and take advantage of his shooting touch. he doesn't need to drive to the hoop anymore/as much. but with the teams offense being so predictable and simple (and the coach almost stubbornly not changing anything), it won't happen anytime soon.

I don't think it's like Roy is done. They're just using him completely wrong.

They paid Miles to stay away. I just think Roy is hurting the team right now because Nate refuses to adjust his game plan to accommodate the new Roy.

Exactly, I keep going back to how Pierce changed his game once he took a more complementary role once they got KG and Ray Ray. That not only lengthened his career by taking a lot of the physical pressure, but also made the team much more effective.

A new coach would = a new Roy

A new coach might = a new Roy, but half of it will be Roy willingly adapting his game. He'll have to be more active away from the ball. He'll have to learn to play without the ball.

I agree with MM, a new coach would mean a new Roy. Not that Roy would all the sudden turn into the Roy of 2 years ago, but that they'd actually have an offense that takes advantage of the teams unbalanced team, and Roy's gifts that he still can do.

He has already mentioned multiple times how he thinks he's being overused, and how he worked on his off ball game in the summer. He keeps telling opponent announcers about how he is not the athlete he once was.

Except Nate keeps using him in the same role he did two years ago.
