they couldve made a shot and still won, they way Carmelo was shooting. tough lost. A lot more games to be played.
This phrase intimidates me and thus I deem it the perfect replacement for Checkmate. You will be spared from my "Owned en passant" wrath for your contributions here. Now, to deliver the DeLorean to Blair.
i actually didn't mind that call. kmart clearly was attempting to hold oden to the floor when oden got that rebound. without a guy grabbing him like that, i hope oden would have gone up for the dunk to finish the game rather than kicking it out.
I see, I still would have put the balls in Rudys hand and let him drive and he was the only Blazer hitting his free throws in the 4th.
Wrong. They never tried going back to him. He might have kept scoring, he might have not, but they simply assumed that Rudy wouldn't be able to score anymore once Lawson went out.
Well it looks like KP is playing it just right then. Outlaw helped us win one game and helped us lose another. Hang on to him KP, he is another J. Oneal. (mild sarcasm)
It has a once-in-a-generation center, but he'll miss his first season and take another season to start getting into the swing of things. Fans with no sense of perspective will keep blasting him because he's not dominating quickly enough, despite making pretty efficient contributions to the team as he gets the hang of the NBA game. Assuming we get the #1 pick...it might take a situation like the Spurs had in the '90s, when David Robinson went down, allowing the Spurs to land Tim Duncan. We need Outlaw to go down, otherwise Portland will be way too good. New slogan: "Tank for Imaginary Center Symbolizing Greg Oden Situation!"
I'm not giving up on Oden yet but you go to admit, he's been very disappointing as a number one pick thus far.
Yeah, Carter went in for Lawson, so Rudy would have still be able to take advantage of his height. It just happens all the time with Rudy even if hes hot the other Blazers ignore him.
Rudy was also the only one willing to take it to the rim. He played a real good game. We need to solve our PG situation, or go with a Roy/Rudy/Martell lineup. I don't think Nate yet knows who his lineup will be in the final minutes. I hope Blake isn't there though the way he played tonight.
i really would have liked to see portland go with roy, rudy, webster/outlaw, aldridge, and oden midway through the 4th once it became clear that roy wasn't going to be able to guard melo. i didn't see the point in shuffling blake/miller back and forth when neither guy was all that effective and miller wasn't going to be handling the ball anyway.
In the replay, it looked like Oden was already passing out to Rudy when he was fouled. I felt it was a bit of a BS call; just once, on the last play of the game, it'd be nice to let the play finish. I don't even think it was an intentional foul, or even a major one. It was a ticky-tack foul called on what could have been the last play of the game.
i think going big with roy/rudy is the answer. a chris paul or tony parker will give that backcourt a lot of trouble but it's not like blake or miller will slow those guys down either.
Fernandez got one more possession to use after Lawson went out and drew free throws. After that, as I recall, the only times he got the ball were on the perimeter and he swung the ball around.
i just thought the phantom call on nene or the call on miller when he went for the fake but then there wasn't even contact with melo were much worse calls. same with the off ball fouls on melo and roy? what was the point of that exactly? there was a foul there on kmart that could have hugely effected so it seemed more understandable.
'Tone says lots of stuff... He makes Rice sound reasonable sometimes. But yes, i think the team should use this loss as an opportunity to light a fire under their ass and buckle down.
Yeah, Rudy is too good to sit, especially the way he played tonight. And Martell was playing well, but Nate seems to feel that either Blake or Andre need to be on the floor. I don't know... it's a tough dilemma right now and it's trial by fire now since we didn't have everyone in the preseason.
I didn't really see the K-Mart foul, but yes, it was just the last in a long line of ridiculous calls on both ends. Also, the refs cheated us out of 2.2 seconds, not calling the first four fouls we committed on Carmelo.
