Vazquez (3-3) yielded six hits - five singles and a double - andtwo walks to get his first win since April 13.

"(Vazquez) was very good," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said."He held us in check and did a great job pitching. He hadeverything going tonight and was able to throw his breaking ballwhen he was behind in the count. It was a good pitching duel."

The righthander, who struck out five, snapped a personaleight-game winless streak and earned the first win by a starterin the last eight games.

"We lost a few in a row so it's always nice to get the win,"said Vazquez, who is 7-2 in his last 10 starts in Canada. "Ilove pitching (north of the border) and it's always good whenyou can stop a losing streak. It was great to get some runsupport early on."

It was also the fourth shutout for Chicago in 2007.

Closer Bobby Jenks pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 15th save in 16opportunities.

The White Sox needed good things to happen to them after atroubling week that saw manager Ozzie Guillen say the team mightbe better off if he was the first manager fired this season.

"I just told them I believe in this ballclub," Guillen said. "Iwant them to play hard every day. I believe in what we haveand they have to show themselves they're good enough to win thisthing."

Chicago also had to overcome an injury to Darin Erstad theprevious night in a 2-0 loss to Toronto. Erstad sprained hisankle swinging at a pitch in the sixth inning and was placed onthe 15-day disabled list Friday.

"I made a bad pitch to Iguchi at the end of the game," saidBurnett, who is 46 strikeouts shy of 1,000 for his career. "I'mjust not content giving up three runs. Vazquez threw a greatballgame and I can't control what he does to our offense."
