    Ordonez, Guillen fuel White Sox in rout

    CHICAGO (Ticker) - Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen poweredthe Detroit Tigers to a 13-3 victory over the Chicago White Soxon Sunday in the season finale for both teams.


    Ordonez went 3-for-4 with two RBI and Guillen belted a pair oftwo-run doubles as the Tigers scored seven runs in the seventhinning to salt the game.


    "Perfect day. Absolutely perfect. It couldn't have worked outbetter," Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "Everyone didwhat they were supposed to do. It couldn't have been a betterday. It was a great day for the Tigers fans who came here. Itwas a great way to end the season."


    Curtis Granderson went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases forDetroit.


    Guillen doubled to right field to plate Ramon Santiago andGranderson to start the seventh-inning onslaught.


    Marcus Thames also plated a pair with his double before MikeRabelo smashed his first career home run to extend the lead to11-3.


    Ordonez started the scoring when he hit a double to left fieldto score Granderson in the first inning. Ordonez entered thegame with a .360 batting average, tops in the American League.

    "I stayed focused. You always have your goals, but this time Isurpassed my goals," Tigers outfielder Ordonez said. "I try toplay hard and do my best."


    Guillen belted a two-run homer in the third to extend theTigers' lead to 3-0.


    The blast plated Placido Polanco, who reached 200 hits on theseason after his single off White Sox starter Jose Contreras.

    "My friends and teammates showed that they really wanted me toget it (200th hit) so bad," Polanco said. "It makes me happy."

    Brandon Inge added to the rout with a single in the eighthinning which scored Ryan Raburn, who came in to pinch-run forOrdonez.


    Jermaine Dye helped the White Sox get on the board with a singleto center field which scored Josh Fields, cutting the lead 3-1during the fourth inning.


    Fields deposited a shot into the center field seats just out ofreach of Granderson's glove, scoring Jerry Owens to bring theWhite Sox within a run during the fifth inning at 4-3.

    Nate Robertson (9-13) earned the win allowing eight hits, twostrikeouts and three runs over 6 2/3 innings.


    Contreras (10-17), who earned the loss went 6 1/3 innings,giving up five runs and nine hits with two strikeouts.

    "It was a tough season," Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen said."We finished off the season the way we started, real bad. I takefull responsibility for what happened.


    "I feel proud of my players. They played real bad, theyperformed poorly but they showed up with the same attitude.Unfortunately, we didn't get it done."
