Yes! This was what I was talking about! Our small forwards, power forwards, and our center are playing big both offensively and defensively. Then as a bonus, Matt Barnes does a great SJax impression which really gets the ball circulating inside for a big man flush. Harrington, Biedrins, POB, Wright, and Barnes, Azu were playing super well and actually helped to out-rebound the other team.

"A great feeling," Harrington said. "Now we've got to build onit. We get Captain Jack back, (Stephen Jackson) and hopefullywe start making some moves. One game at a time. It was a goodsign, a good win for our fans and a good sign for us. We gotthat monkey off our back and now hopefully we can start gettingwins and playing Warriors' basketball."

Jackson finished serving a seven-game suspension for firing ahandgun outside of a Indianapolis strip club last year whilewith the Pacers.

"All I can do is play hard and try and produce for us and helpus out when (Andris Biedrins) is sitting on the bench," O'Bryantsaid. "I guess I did that pretty well. It was extremely fun.We finally got a win, I was a contributing factor and it justmakes you feel good to be out there playing when you're outthere winning."

The second-year center scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting andgrabbed four rebounds in 12 minutes. Davis scored 16 of his 21points after intermission and added 12 assists, five blocks andthree steals.

"That's what happens when a team is down or guys aren't hitting, you need other guys to step up," Harrington said. "You onlyneed this nine or 10 times out of the season but if you can getthis type of production you'll get more wins and have a betterseason."

Barnes had 17 points and eight assists for Golden State, whichheld a 64-18 edge in points in the paint.

Tim Thomas scored 25 points, Corey Maggette 22 and Chris Kaman20 for the Clippers.

"They were just hungry for a win tonight," Thomas said. "Theywent out and did anything possible to get a win. A lot of theirpoints came in the paint and it was something that definitelyhurt us but they just wanted it more than we did."

Maggette carried the Clippers in the first half, hitting on7-of-10 shots for 17 points.

"They played extremely hard and made some great runs and we hadour opportunities to break through," Maggette said. "I pulledmy hamstring in the third quarter so I had to sit and it gavethem some momentum. They kept pushing and they needed this win.We needed it too but they were a little more hungry than ustonight."

Re: NBA: LA CLIPPERS (5-2) at GOLDEN STATE (0-6)

WAs it just me. or did anyone else notice that it was BArnes who was guarding MAgette when he was on fire in the first quarter. And then Barnes later in the game who was guarding T. Thomas. ACtually let me rephrase that. He was never guarding anyone, but responsible for that player doing his best impression of Fisher lost on defense, guarding the wrong guy, doubling off his man, and then someone else ( in the case of the 4 point play by thomas...harrington running out at him from the paint) and then the very next play he overplays thomas who runs straight up the middle for an easy bucket leaving "the Tin Man" ..... "If i only had a brain" in the dust. To make matters worse they switch him to Mobley who lights him up. Is there a worse defender than Barnes on this squad? Kosta?

I am sad for the BArnes family going through what he is dealing with with his Mother. I lost mine this year and i know what it is like going through it. But i am happy as a WArriors fan that Barnes will not be on this road trip and i hope he decides to sit the rest of the season out sick as that sounds. Even in his best offensive game this season he absolutely killed us defensively.

Finally what the hell are they doing with not extending POB? what a bonehead move that looks to be. He is not an unrestricted free agent isnt he?

Sorry to hear that you lost your mother, boog. [IMG]

I didn't think Barnes was that bad. At least he was producing in a way that helped others get high % points. Plus, he was hitting his threes. He did a good Sjax impression and that was all right by me because he was looking to pass rather than to score. The game wasn't 1 on 5 so it was terrific from my standpoint. I'm glad Biedrins dropped the softness and his hands got better at rebounding and catching. He's showing his old skill of catching the "too hard", "a bit off target for a 7 footer" type passes" in addition to catching the easy ones that should be automatic for a person with good hands.

Also, POB was pretty darn aggressive and that was good for us because it shows he's got confidence in himself. I don't care if people bash him for foul trouble because who do we have in front of him that is known for the same thing? Especially two years ago. That is why POB went into the game in the first place. If POB becomes a legitimate presence in the paint as a backup or even a starter, I'd be sad that we didn't even extend him. How many mobile 7 footers with good hands and that type of arm length are there? I still think he would be better than any of Seattle's project centers and most centers not in the top 8 for draft lotto picks. If he develops into a good post defender, rebounder, and shotblocker with a decent hookshot/high&low post passing skills and free throw shooting %, I'd be really unhappy. This is why I know Nelson's act will eventually get old and we'll end up firing the guy like last time. Let's hope he retires and there's a suitable replacement willing to develop centers. Because centers and power forwards sometimes take a while to develop. Look at Al Jefferson or Jermaine O'neil or how long it might take Andrew Bynum to get good. Big men take patience and Nelly doesn't have that attitude towards any big man. It's terrible. Nelly... playoffs or no playoffs, he doesn't do big man offensive development or big man defense.

And oh yeah, because they didn't extend POB, he will be unrestricted free agent meaning we can't match offers or be able to go over our salary cap limit to keep him here (POB can go anywhere he wants, even Europe or back to our team). I'm sure the Warriors are looking two years ahead and trying to explore all their options. They figure Ellis and Biedrins could be potentially too expensive to sign all the rookies and go over the cap limit again. We're in rebuilding mode, though, same as always so I think the Warriors need to be as flexible as possible without risking the franchise on guys that aren't franchise stars. There might be plenty of good free agents in a few years that we could build a team around. If Baron doesn't come back who is our center piece? We don't really have one. I bet Mully will try to go after a big man if he can drop max deals out there while trying to retain a talented backcourt that can feed the ball inside and stretch the floor. But who knows? We need a big man that can score and defend and some guards that do what Baron and Ellis, only that shoot better.

    Thank you Cus,

So, Azubuike, MP, Barnes and POB - all unrestriced free agents - I wonder what price tag AZ is going to bring. I would say resigning him suddenly may become a higher priority than Ellis if he keeps playing this well all year.

AB, Ellis - both restricted - AB is a no brainer, but now i am wondering what Ellis's value will be. Seems to me he has either taken a step backward or plateued a bit. I don't see what improvements he has made to his game or what he worked on.

WAtching BRandon the limited minutes i have seen i am pretty impressed how smooth he is. AB/bW tandem might be pretty nice. Just need a banger to add to that mix in a year or so.

What do you think of the LAsme release?

I'm not sure what to think of the Lasme release because we never got to see much of Lasme. But he was 24 years old, which by some standards is when players stop really getting all that much better. And he was also a tweener that was too short for power forward and too unskilled for small forward. Nelson probably picked Mbenga because he's the only center he knows I'll bet. I would have taken the 260 pounder Jackie Butler for potential or if he's too raw gotten a vet like Dale Davis or PJ Brown. We need some scoring ability and not another Foyle.

Ellis probably is going through the Sophmore jinx since last year was really his first year. He'll get better... hopefully. I think not going to college hurt his game, but then again we wouldn't have Ellis because he'd go higher in the draft.

I want to see more Brandan Wright because I don't like this over reliance on fastbreaks and outside shots. We need an inside game badly. I bet I will harp on Wright for being too finesse and not enough power inside the paint, but as long as he gets the job done inside. I think he'll be a better rebounder and shotblocker than Diogu at least and he'll have similar inside moves but without the bull like strength, free throw ability, and outside shot.
