NBA: TORONTO (3-3) at CHICAGO (1-4)

Thomas, Bulls look for first winning streak vs. Raptors

Toronto (3-3) at Chicago (1-4) 8:30 pm EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- The Chicago Bulls will try and take anotherstep toward putting their horrid start behind them.

Tyrus Thomas and the Bulls look for a second straight win whenthey host the Toronto Raptors on Saturday.

Thomas scored 19 points and pulled down a career-high 14rebounds to help Chicago to a 97-93 win over Detroit onThursday. It was the first win of the season for the Bulls, whostarted 0-4 for the first time since 2004-05.

The Bulls' terrible start was surprising considering they werecoming off their best season since the days of Michael Jordan.Chicago went 49-33 last season but fell in six games to Detroitin the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Now the Bulls will try and gather some momentum before theyembark on their longest road trip of the season. Following thisgame, the Bulls will have four days off before opening asix-game road trip vs. the high-powered Phoenix Suns onThursday.

As for Toronto, it has its own problems to deal with. TheRaptors dropped three straight before Chris Bosh scored 24points and blocked a potential game-tying layup by Andre Millerin a 105-103 win over Philadelphia on Friday.

The teams split four meetings last season, but Chicago has woneight of the last nine meetings here.

Should be a pretty tought test. Both teams are off to somewhat disappointing starts. I watched a little bit of the Raptors getting their doors blown off by the Bucks and they just didn't seem to be playing much defense at all.

Like Mike said tough test for both teams and the game could go both ways. Neither team has an advantage right now, well maybe the Bulls a bit since they're at home.

Myself I expect the Bulls to win for the simple fact that Toronto has been struggling and they're playing away.

    Raptors 96 - 99 Bulls

Chicago has the upper hand on this one no matter what their record says. The Raps are playing the second game of back-to-backs on the road. It was a tough win last night in Philly and the team didn't get any rest. Both teams are looking for their second straight wins so hopefully we see some good ball out there tonight.

Seems like the Bulls might win this one. The interesting thing to watch for is what kind of PT Wallace gets.

I hate saying this as a Raps fan, but I see Chicago winning this game. Hopefully Mitchell will be smart in his rotations and go with a hot hand as opposed to making everyone on his team happy. I see Chicago picking up the momentum after a rather big game against Detroit and will continue to thrive against Toronto. My hearts with Toronto, but I think Chicago will win.

Bosh v TT is the matchup I'm interested in.
TT more than held his own against Rasheed, although we had a hard time stopping him.
    Now yet another test.
I don't have a feel for this one.

Its becoming clear, just like last year, TT is the key to us taking it to the next level.
Its getting to the point where I don't really care if Wallace plays or not. Joe Smith / Noah are serviceable. Still a titanic waste of precious, precious financial flexibility.

Re: NBA: TORONTO (3-3) at CHICAGO (1-4)

The Raptors always have a hard time against Chicago and it'll be hard coming off an surprisingly close game last night. Ultimately, I think the game will depend on which team is shooting the ball better. Both teams have shown a "live and die by the jumpshot" style of play so far this season.

Chris Bosh will be big for the Raptors. It looks like he's finally healthy and he's played well in the last two games. The best thing about having him able to shoulder a heavier load is that he's so good at drawing fouls and getting easier points. If he can continue to get to the line and maybe get some of the Bulls' players in foul trouble, Toronto has a good chance of coming out on top.

btw for everyone in the Raptors forum, we'll be using this thread as the GT tonight. I'm a bit too busy to put up a seperate thread and this one shouldn't have as much flaming/nonsense as the Nets thread (not as much of a rivalry, more reasonable posters). Just give it a try for tonight. And if you're really dependant on all the info that I put up in those previews, here goes: The game's at 8:30 PM on TSN/FAN 590. Anthony Parker vs. Kirk Hinrich will be an important matchup (AP always ends up guarding the bigger player and we need him to prevent those open 3's). I think Chicago will come out on top, 98-95. And here's something to look at while you wait for the game....

Chutney always has great insight and eye candy in the Raps GT previews.

edit: Kinda funny story. So I was linked this thread to my facebook profile but when I logged on I didn't see it anywhere. Where could it be? I wondered. It seems my g/f didn't log out of her account this morning so now the first thing, she or all of her sports-hating friends will see when they view her profile is a link to this thread and a thumbnail of chut's bikini pic. lol

Toronto is a brutal matchup for us with their shooting big men, but hopefully we'll carry the momentum from beating Detroit into this game and take advantage of the fact that Toronto's on the bad half of a back to back. We should push the pace and try to get to the basket against them.

Bargnani played pretty well against the Bulls last year so I hope his confidence is up for this one.

I'm hoping for a good rebound game from the Raps after a pretty brutal week and a half.
