AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Jarvis Hayes gave theWashington Wizards a reminder of what they let get away.

Hayes scored 21 points off the bench as the Detroit Pistonsposted a 104-85 preseason victory over the Wizards on Wednesday.

Rasheed Wallace scored 17 and grabbed seven rebounds andChauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince each scored 12 for Detroit,which led by three points at the end of the first quarter, 11at halftime and 22 to begin the final period.


Hayes, who spent the first four seasons of his NBA career withWashington, was hampered by injuries during most of his timewith the Wizards.


The 26-year-old signed with Detroit as a free agent during thesummer and is being counted on to provide some relief for Princeat small forward.


Hayes connected on 8-of-13 from the floor, including two3-pointers for the Pistons, who made 11-of-15 shot from the arcand finished the exhibition season with a 4-4 record.

However, It might have been a costly win for Detroit.First-round draft pick Rodney Stuckey appeared to twist hisankle late in the third quarter and did not return. After thecontest, it was reported he had a sprained ankle.


Antawn Jamison scored 14 points and Caron Butler and rookie NickYoung each added 12 for Washington, which shot 40 percent(33-of-83).
