LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- After emerging as a prime-time playerduring his team's championship run last season, Ryan Getzlaf ispicking up right where he left off.

Getzlaf scored a power-play goal with 5:32 remaining in thethird period, snapping a tie and leading the defending StanleyCup champion Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 preseason victory over theLos Angeles Kings on Saturday.

With Anaheim on the man advantage Getzlaf fired a shot pastgoaltender Jonathan Bernier from the left faceoff circle for hisfirst tally of the preseason. During the Ducks' road to theCup last season, Getzlaf led the club in scoring with 17 pointsin 21 playoff games.

Looking to avenge a 5-4 loss to the Kings in Thursday'spreseason opener, the Ducks wasted little time getting on thescoreboard in this one, as Drew Miller scored just 70 secondsinto the contest.

Los Angeles knotted the game with 5:50 to go in the firstperiod. With Todd Bertuzzi in the penalty box for tripping,Mike Cammalleri netted a power-play goal to make it 1-1.

A second-round pick in 2001, the 25-year-old Cammalleri led theKings in scoring last season with 80 points and finished secondbehind Alexander Frolov with 34 goals.

Acquired from Vancouver during the summer, Jason King restoredAnaheim's lead at 9:09 of the second period with a shorthandedtally. It was the second goal of the preseason for King, whocelebrated his 26th birthday on Friday.

Defenseman Tom Preissing, who signed with Los Angeles as a freeagent in July after playing in the Stanley Cup Finals withOttawa a month earlier, drew the Kings even just 27 secondslater with his first tally of the preseason.

With Jean-Sebastien Giguere recovering from hernia surgery andIlya Bryzgalov getting the night off, Swiss netminder JonasHiller started and allowed two goals on 14 shots for the Ducks.Gerald Coleman replaced Hiller midway through the second periodand stopped all 12 shots he faced.

Jason LaBarbera made 11 saves for the Kings before beingreplaced by top goaltending prospect Jonathan Bernier. The 11thoverall pick in 2006, Bernier yielded two goals on 18 shots.

Signed to replace defenseman Scott Niedermayer in the event theDucks' captain follows through with his plan to retire, MathieuSchneider left the game in the second period with a sprainedankle.

Ducks, Kings to get 2007-08 season underway in London

Anaheim vs. Los Angeles, 12:00 pm EDT

LONDON (Ticker) -- The National Hockey League is kicking offits 2007-08 campaign across the Atlantic.

While the vast majority of the teams still are finishing uppreseason competition, the Anaheim Ducks will start the defenseof their Stanley Cup championship against the Los Angeles Kingson Saturday in the 90th regular-season opener at the O2 Arena inLondon, England.

It will not be the same Ducks' team that won the Stanley Cuplast season, however, as two of the club's top three scorersfrom 2006-07 will not be playing Saturday.

Defenseman Scott Niedermayer, who was Anaheim's captain lastcampaign, still has not decided whether or not he will return tothe team. The 34-year-old Niedermayer, whose leadership was amajor factor in the Ducks' run to their first title, collected15 goals and 54 assists last season.

The Ducks' insurance policy for Niedermayer, Mathieu Schneider, also will miss the start of the season with a fractured ankle.Schneider, who signed a two-year contract with Anaheim in theoffseason, is a two-time All-Star that helped the MontrealCanadiens win the Cup in 1993.

Teemu Selanne also seems to be suffering from a Stanley Cuphangover as he also has yet to make a decision regarding hisfuture with the team. Selanne, who led the Ducks with 48 goalsand 94 points last season, turned 37 in July.

The Kings are coming off a championship of their own, eventhough it is far less prestigous than the Stanley Cup.

Los Angeles managed to win the Red Bull Salute InvitationalTournament in Salzburg, Austria on Wednesday. The Kings pulledout a 7-6 win over the EC Red Bulls Salzburg on Tuesday beforewinning the event Wednesday with a 4-3 triumph over FarjestadsBK.

Los Angeles, which finished last in the NHL in penalty-killingin 2006-07, did shore up their defense corps this offseason byadding Tom Preissing and Brad Stuart along with a
    defensive-minded center in Michal Handzus.

With the departure of goaltender Mathieu Garon and the demotionof Dan Cloutier, more pressure will be put on Jason LaBarberathis season. LaBarbera, who has played in just 34 career NHLgames, likely will enter this campaign as the Kings' No. 1goaltender.

Anaheim and Los Angeles will meet again Sunday to close out thetwo-game series in London.
