EDMONTON, Alberta (Ticker) -- Sheldon Souray was a major forceon the power play for the Montreal Canadiens last season.Expecting the same, the Edmonton Oilers got a glimpse of hisprowess Wednesday. Souray scored a man-advantage goal late in the second period andDwayne Roloson made 27 saves as the Oilers edged the CalgaryFlames, 2-1, in a preseason version of the "Battle of Alberta." Entering the 2006-07 campaign with 14 power-play tallies in 425career games, Souray set an NHL record for defensemen bytallying 19 times with the man advantage for Montreal. Signedto a lucrative five-year, $27 million contract by Edmonton overthe summer, he showed the club he still can be dangerous withthe extra skater. With the Oilers already ahead, 1-0, Souray one-timed AlesHemsky's pass by goaltender Curtis McElhinney from the rightpoint with 28 seconds to go in the second, doubling the team'sadvantage. The tally proved crucial as Calgary blue-liner Adrian Aucoinblasted a shot from the right point that beat Roloson to thestick side at 7:47 of the third for a power-play goal, halvingthe deficit. The Flames had a golden opportunity to pull even with just overseven minutes remaining, but Roloson was able to thwart KristianHuselius' breakaway attempt. Andrew Cogliano also scored for Edmonton, which improved to5-1-0 in the preseason. McElhinney made 19 saves for the Flames.
