    DENVER (Ticker) - Sergei Zubov scored two power-play goals,including the overtime game-winner, to lift the Dallas Stars toa 5-4 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night in avirtual dress rehearsal for next week's season opener.

    Zubov blasted a slap shot from the top of the left circle pastAvalanche goaltender Peter Budaj with 1:42 left in overtime togive the Stars the win.


    The Russian defenseman also netted a goal in the second periodto tie the score at 2-2.


    John-Michael Liles scored a pair of power-play goals in thethird period to give the Avalanche a 4-2 lead. He beat MikeSmith with a slap shot from the right point to give Colorado a3-2 lead just 1:22 into the third period, then scored on aone-timer from the bottom of the right circle with 11:56remaining.


    Dallas answered with goals from Niklas Hagman and Brenden Morrowin a span of 55 seconds to tie the game at 4-4 with 8:04 toplay.


    Jordan Leopold gave Colorado a 2-1 lead with 8:09 remaining inthe second period when he buried the rebound of Wojtek Wolski'sshot from between the circles.


    Budaj kept the Avs in the game with three big saves in thesecond period. He stopped Hagman's shorthanded effort frombelow the right circle early in the period and turned away TobyPetersen and Mike Modano in a span of one minute midway throughthe frame.


    Dallas and Colorado traded power-play goals in the first period.Wolski put the Avalanche on the board first with a wrist shotfrom the left circle that eluded Mike Smith high on the stickside just inside the near post.


    Modano tied the score just over four minutes later when he beatBudaj between the pads with a wrist shot from the right circle.

    Jeff Halpern, Stu Barnes and Philippe Boucher did not dress forthe Stars and starting goaltender Marty Turco did not play.Karlis Skrastins was the only regular not in the Coloradolineup.
