MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Ticker) -- The New Jersey Devils canstifle opponents no matter who is in goal.


Kevin Weekes and Frank Doyle combined for a shutout and BarryTallackson had a goal and an assist as the Devils posted a 3-0victory over the Boston Bruins in a preseason contest at theVerizon Wireless Arena on Thursday.


The reigning Vezina Trophy winner, Martin Brodeur - who led theNHL with 12 shutouts last season - got the night off for NewJersey. Free-agent acquisition Weekes got the start and turnedaside all 16 shots he faced over two periods before giving wayto Doyle, who made eight saves in the third to preserve theblanking.


Tallackson, a second-round pick in 2002, set up Rod Pelley forthe Devils' first goal midway through the second period. The24-year-old native of North Dakota capped the scoring less than10 minutes into the third, slipping the puck past goaltenderTuukka Rask for a power-play tally.


Karel Rachunek netted New Jersey's other goal - also with theman advantage - and fellow defenseman Johnny Oduya recorded twoassists for the Devils.


Manny Fernandez made 14 saves for Boston before being replacedin the second period by Rask, who stopped 17 shots.
