    Gonzalez' single lifts Dodgers over Giants in 10 innings

    <h3>LA DODGERS 6, SAN FRANCISCO 5 (10 INNINGS)</h3>LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Luis Gonzalez's RBI single in thebottom of the 10th inning lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a6-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night.

    With the score tied, 5-5, Andy LaRoche reached on an infieldsingle to lead off the 10th against Giants reliever Dan Giese(0-2).


    Chin-Lung Hu laid down a sacrifice bunt to move LaRoche intoscoring position and Gonzalez delivered a pinch-hit single tocenter field off Jack Taschner, giving the Dodgers just theirthird win in the team's last 13 games.


    Dodgers closer Takashi Saito (2-1) pitched two scoreless inningsto get his first win since May 1.


    The Dodgers blew a chance to win the game in the bottom of theninth. With one out and the bases loaded, Giants reliever TylerWalker got Russell Martin to strike out swinging and DelwynYoung grounded out to second to end the inning.


    The Giants jumped on Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley early,scoring three runs in the top of the first.


    After Dave Roberts and Kevin Frandsen both reached base to startthe inning, Randy Winn delivered a two-run double to left,putting San Francisco on the board. Three batters later, DanOrtmeier hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Winn and givethe Giants a 3-0 advantage.


    Ray Durham added an RBI single in the second to extend theGiants lead to 4-0 and knock the Dodgers righthander out of thegame.


    The Dodgers scored a pair in the bottom of the third and thentook the lead with three runs in the fourth. Martin hit a solohome run and Juan Pierre added a two-run single to give LosAngeles a 5-4 edge.


    Ortmeier tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fifth, with asolo home run to left off Los Angeles reliever Mark Hendrickson.

    Billingsley lasted a career-low 1 1/3 innings, giving up fourruns on six hits and three walks.

    Gonzalez' single lifts Dodgers over Giants in 10 innings

    <h3>LA DODGERS 6, SAN FRANCISCO 5 (10 INNINGS)</h3>LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Luis Gonzalez's RBI single in thebottom of the 10th inning lifted the Los Angeles Dodgers to a6-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Saturday night.

    With the score tied, 5-5, Andy LaRoche reached on an infieldsingle to lead off the 10th against Giants reliever Dan Giese(0-2).


    Chin-Lung Hu laid down a sacrifice bunt to move LaRoche intoscoring position and Gonzalez delivered a pinch-hit single tocenter field off Jack Taschner, giving the Dodgers just theirthird win in the team's last 13 games.


    "This was a good game and I just wanted to go up in thatsituation hoping for a mistake," Gonzalez said. "I got one andhit the ball hard the other way."


    Dodgers closer Takashi Saito (2-1) pitched two scoreless inningsto get his first win since May 1.


    "He (Saito) came in and did a great job shutting them down andgiving us a chance to win the game," Dodgers catcher RussellMartin said.


    The Dodgers blew a chance to win the game in the bottom of theninth. With one out and the bases loaded, Giants reliever TylerWalker got Martin to strike out swinging and Delwyn Younggrounded out to second to end the inning.


    "I got some good pitches to hit and make something happen, butjust ended up fouling them off," Martin said. "I just wanted toget the ball in the outfield and just couldn't get it done, butit was good that we ended up winning."


    The Giants jumped on Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley early,scoring three runs in the top of the first.


    "I just didn't have my best stuff from the get go," Billingsleysaid. "I wanted to go out and pitch a good game to end theseason and go into next year on a good note."


    After Dave Roberts and Kevin Frandsen both reached base to startthe inning, Randy Winn delivered a two-run double to left,putting San Francisco on the board. Three batters later, DanOrtmeier hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Winn and givethe Giants a 3-0 advantage.


    Ray Durham added an RBI single in the second to extend theGiants lead to 4-0 and knock the Dodgers righthander out of thegame.


    The Dodgers scored a pair in the bottom of the third and thentook the lead with three runs in the fourth. Martin hit a solohome run and Juan Pierre added a two-run single to give LosAngeles a 5-4 edge.


    "We played good fundamental baseball tonight," Dodgers managerGrady Little said. "It was a good game."


    Ortmeier tied the game at 5-5 in the top of the fifth, with asolo home run to left off Los Angeles reliever Mark Hendrickson.

    Billingsley lasted a career-low 1 1/3 innings, giving up fourruns on six hits and three walks.
