Terry hits the 3 to give Dallas a 4 point lead

Radmanonic a 3 point miss. Rebound Seattle
Lewis with a 3 point miss. Rebound Terry.
Terry is fouled with 8 seconds left.

Real gutsy win tonight without Daniels and Harris for the most part. Props to Dirk and Terry for a huge 4th quarter.

    Terry makes both free throws.
Murray hits a lucky 3 from the corner that bounced high and went in.
Dirk runs the time and the mavs win 101-98.

Mavs win a close game 101-98. I think the key in the 4th quarter was taking Van Horn out for Dirk. Dirk prooves why he is better than Garnett tonight. Garnett couldn't take his team to victory like Dirk did. Garnett gets more of his points off rebounds rather than one on one moves. Dirk just kept attacking his man and when they doubled him he finds Terry for a 3. Almost all the plays at the end were run through him. If the mavs do this more often they wouldn't have trouble scoring though Dirk might get tired.

Some good coaching by AJ though, it seems he ran that play were Dirk drew the double and dished it to JT for the killer 3. Probably Dirk's best game of the season

I was just listening to Dirk's interview, he has a cool voice. But he sounds like he's cool with everyone, using nickname (underrated, to me this shows that he's good locker room friends with JET and STACK). These commentators are much better than Barkley, Walton etc..anyone know these guys names? The Dallas guys

Mavs 101 Sonics 98 Grades: The Mavs Ride Dirk Hard

If you want the one of the best teams in the NBA to put on dominating displays of basketball, the Mavs are not your team. This season is all about the thrill of gutting it out in the fourth quarter (unless we are talking about any team from Los Angeles). Dallas played catch-up most of the game, finally going ahead for good late in the fourth quarter. Jason’s trey shooting were the daggers, but it was due to Dirk’s assists (a season high 7) to Jason that the Mavs got over this hump. Stackhouse had his first game this season. Jerry definitely is rusty, but you’ve got to get going sooner or later.

UPN 21 : A+; Nice to see the Sonics dancers spreading some holiday cheer. +36

Johnson: B, The Mavs weren’t pumped for this game, but Avery did make sound decisions on his timeout calls. Avery’s big gamble paid off by putting Armstrong in the game with the Mavs down 12 points. Darrell did not come back out of the game tonight.

Howard: B : Josh has a superb third period to help get the Mavs caught up to the Sonics as he backed up Dirk with 20 points on 8-13 shooting form the field. Josh also kicked in 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot. +22

Nowitzki: A+, Dirk carried the Mavs the entire game, but no more so in the first half where Dirk got next to no help from his team mates. Josh and Jason finally woke up in the second half, but Dirk was still the man with 34 points and a season high 7 assists. Nice to see Dirk go 15-15 from the charity stripe.

Dampier: B, Erick again played well with 6 rebounds and 8 points in 30 minutes. Zero turnovers. +13

Griffin: B; Adrian saw some of his minutes get eaten up by Jerry, but Adrian was back on the floor at the end of the game. Zero turnovers. +4

Terry: A, Jason struggled most of the game, but it was his two treys late in the fourth and a key steal for a Dirk dunk that sealed the win for the Mavs. Once again Jason is the hero for the Mavs in front of his hometown. +16

Van Horn: C-, Keith struggled again tonight going 0-7 from the floor. One plus for Keith though was a nice fast break assist to Jason Terry. -3

Harris: B-; Devin was pretty sick tonight, but gave it a go anyways. Harris put up 7 points (2-3 FG, 3-4 FT) but gave up 3 turnovers in 17 minutes. +4

Diop: C, DeSagana only got one block tonight as he really never got going tonight in 6 minutes. Zero turnovers. +2

Armstrong : A, Darrell’s spark brought the Mavs back tonight for the win. Zero turnovers. +2

M’Benga: B, Didiers took advantage of Diop being subpar and provided a positive 7 minutes. Zero turnovers. +2

Stackhouse: B, Jerry has a lot of rust to shake off. Stack got 15 minutes tonight, but his best play was a nice assist. Somehow Avery has got to find a way to talk to Jerry about shooting from behind the arc. Going 0-3 doesn't seem to work. +5

    Powell: DNP-CD

    Marshall : DNP-CD.

Daniels: DNP-CD, Marquis was inactive again with a neck sprain.

Podkolzin: DNC-CD, Pavel had surgery to repair his right foot and ankle and is expected to miss three months.

SEATTLE - Jason Terry just loves coming home.

The Seattle native knocked in two late 3-pointers, including one with 18.8 seconds to play that sealed the Mavericks' 101-98 victory over the SuperSonics on Friday night at KeyArena.

The Mavericks finished 2-1 on the road trip, the only blemish coming on Kobe Bryant's tidal wave of points. They also became the first team in the Western Conference with 10 road wins (against four losses).

The Mavericks were like most of Santa's reindeer most of Friday night. Their view never changed as they were staring at the backside of the front-running Sonics.

And then, they lit up like Rudolph's nose and guided themselves to a remarkable win. It seemed improbable when they were trailing by 12 points with fewer than eight minutes left. But Dirk Nowitzki (34 points) was sizzling again down the stretch. After scoring 11 in a row in the fourth quarter at Sacramento on Thursday, he had 12 out of 13 points for the Mavs in a run that got them within a point.

Then Terry nailed a 3-pointer to put the Mavs up, 93-91. Rashard Lewis tipped in a shot for the Sonics and the game was tied with 1:50 left. Terry penetrated and was fouled, hitting one of two free throws to nose the Mavericks in front.

Ray Allen scored over Terry for the Sonics, then Lewis appeared to have the play of the game when he blocked Nowitzki on a baseline drive. But Terry quickly stole a pass, and Nowitzki was alone under the basket for a dunk and a 96-95 lead. When Luke Ridnour fired an airball with 34.3 seconds left, the Mavericks were in the driver's seat.

Terry took advantage, nailing a wide-open trey against the worst defensive team in the NBA for a 99-95 lead that clinched it.

It was a terrific early Christmas present on a night when Jerry Stackhouse's return to action also was a nice gift.

Stackhouse, out all season with a right knee injury, entered the game with 3:34 to go in the first quarter. Clearly, he didn't have his sea legs. But he did convert a nice reverse layup early in the second quarter and seemed to move without favoring the knee.

"It's not as strong as I'd like," he said before the game. "But it's not as weak as it's been the last couple months. I haven't had any significant swelling. It's not the normal knee I had five years ago. Nor do I expect it to be. But at the same time, it's not what I've been dealing with the last couple of months."

^ Giving Van Horn an F would of been kind. Those grades were "God Loves Everyone" type grades.

Great win for Dallas! I almost gave up on them when Radmanovic and Fortson were just playing with us down low in the post and outrebounding us, but Nowitzki and Terry showed up in the 4th and not to mention Howard's contributions in the second half to spark the team.
