"You know, this is my sixth time playing Notre Dame as a headcoach at Navy and three of them have gone down to about likethis," Johnson said. "Eventually, if they keep going like this, law of averages, you're going to get one - and today was ourday."

Kaheaku-Enhada tossed a 25-yard touchdown to Reggie Campbell onthe first play of the third overtime to give Navy a 44-38 lead.Campbell also caught the conversion pass.

"It's an amazing feeling," Kaheaku-Enhada said. "I don't evenknow what to say right now, I'm still in awe. I hope I don'thave the same question like Roger Staubach had to answer everyyear."

Thomas scored on a 5-yard TD run to pull Notre Dame within46-44.

Notre Dame got a second chance on the conversion attempt asinterference was called on Evan Sharpley's pass that wasincomplete.

"Personally, (it) doesn't really make a difference," Notre Damecoach Charlie Weis said when asked about the end of the winningstreak. "I think that my job is to keep moving the team forwardand talk about the future of Notre Dame football."

But in a season of embarrassing defeats, Notre Dame sufferedanother humiliating loss. The Fighting Irish, who allowed Navyto move the ball effectively throughout, dropped to 1-8,including 0-5 at home.

The defeat assured Notre Dame only its third eight-loss seasonin the program's storied history and first since 1960, when theIrish went 2-8. Notre Dame's other eight-loss campaign came in1956.

"We're not focused on what's happened in the past between thetwo teams," Notre Dame center John Sullivan said. "Today wastough because today was another loss. All the losses weretough."

Navy, which leads the Football Bowl Subdivision in rushing, puttogether touchdown drives of 19, 11 and 15 plays, keeping theIrish off balance with their option attack.
