<h3>Stars aim to bounce back in home opener</h3>

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars hope some home cooking willdo the trick when they host the Boston Bruins on Friday.

In their season opener, goaltender Marty Turco was beaten threetimes in the second period of Wednesday's 4-3 setback to theColorado Avalanche.


"We're going to need better goaltending than that," Stars coachDave Tippett said. "To win in this league, you have to commit towinning the 1-on-1 battles and creating space for yourself byskating. We didn't have enough players doing that."

Turco hopes Dallas can repeat its stellar home record from aseason ago, going 28-11-2 here. If the 32-year-old veteran isunable to preform well between the pipes, Tippett might call onbackup Mike Smith, who impressed during his rookie campaign.

Jussi Jokinen, Niklas Hagman and Jeff Halpern all found the backof the net for Dallas, which is hosting Boston for the first timesince October 15, 2003.


Bruins coach Claude Julien looks to make a positive debut afterhe was let go by the New Jersey Devils prior to the start of thepostseason.


Julien will try to improve a club that finished finished last inthe Northeast Division and missed the postseason for the secondconsecutive campaign.


The trio of Marc Savard, Patrice Bergeron and Phil Kessel shouldprovide plenty of offensive fire power for the Bruins, who arewinless in their pervious four season openers.
