ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - Samuel Pahlsson scored ashorthanded goal in the third period to help lift the AnaheimDucks to a 6-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.

Tied at 3-3 in the third period, Pahlsson took a pass from RobNiedermayer flying down the center and put a wrist shot highpast Detroit goaltender Dominik Hasek's glove with 10:58 left.

Anaheim found its missing offense Monday night, but squanderedan impressive 3-1 lead before scoring on the Red Wings' powerplay.

Ryan Getzlaf recorded three assists for the Ducks, who defeatedthe Red Wings in the Western Conference finals last season enroute to winning the Stanley Cup.

"All in all, I think that this was one of our better games,"Ducks right wing Corey Perry said.

Hasek had to contend with traffic in front of the net allevening.

"There was always someone in my face," Hasek said. "There wassome traffic in front, there were some deflections, they workedreally hard in front of me. They scored two or three goalsbecause there was someone screening me."

Ducks defenseman Kent Huskins got the scoring under way with hisfirst career goal at 1:56 of the opening period. With theteams skating 4-on-4, Huskins took a cross-ice pass from ChrisKunitz from 30 feet out on the right boards and skated alonedown the left side on Hasek. Huskins flicked a wrist shot from10 feet out that bounced off Hasek's blocker and into the rightside of the net.

"It started on a great play by Kunitz," Huskins said. "I didn'thave too much time to think about, so that's probably a goodthing. I was lucky to squeeze it through him."

The Red Wings tied the score at 1-1 on Dan Cleary's goal at the6:39 mark. Both teams had a man in the penalty box when Clearytook the puck from Hasek just to the left of his net and skateddown the left wing.

When he reached the top of the left circle, Cleary passed thepuck to center Kris Draper in the right circle and charged hardto the net. Draper dumped the puck in front, where it bouncedoff Ducks defenseman Shane Hnidy and Cleary and rolled into thenet.

Kunitz tallied his fourth goal of the season on a two-manadvantage to give Anaheim a 2-1 lead at the 9:31 mark of thefirst. Defenseman Chris Pronger fired a slap shot from 40 feetout on the left point that Hasek stopped in front. The reboundcame loose in the crease and Kunitz tapped it home.

"We had a little rough patch there in the second with thepenalties, but I think collectively as a whole we played betterdefensively," said Kunitz, who recorded one goal and one assist."They had a couple of power-play goals, but other than that weplayed really well and it's a good team builder for us."

Anaheim increased its lead to 3-1 at 5:14 of the second, whenAndy McDonald notched his first goal of the season on a feedfrom defenseman Joe DiPenta. Getzlaf started the play with apass from the right corner for his third assist of the night.

Detroit cut the deficit to 3-2 on a goal by left wing HenrikZetterberg at 11:59 of the second. Zetterberg came in from thefaceoff circle and put the sitting puck behind netminder IlyaBryzgalov.

Less than two minutes later, Anaheim defenseman Sean O'Donnellwas whistled for hooking and cross checking minors at 13:17.Kunitz followed him to the box 10 seconds later for slashing, giving the Red Wings a 5-on-3 advantage.

Detroit knotted the score at 3-3 on defenseman Brian Rafalski'ssecond goal of the season at 13:36.

Standing in the right circle, Rafalski took a pass from PavelDatsyuk and shot the puck through a scramble in front of the netand past Bryzgalov into the left corner.

"I got it from the D off the boards and took it, I tried to getit to (Tomas) Holstrom in front," Rafalski said. "It hit off acouple of guys and went in."

Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle praised the work of Bryzgalov, whostopped 32 of 35 shots.

"I thought our goaltender was probably our best player," Carlylesaid. "We were challenged from our performance last night (a2-0 loss to Minnesota) and the response was indicative of thisgroup when their backs are against the wall."
