CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- Shawn Horcoff certainly can be apest in front of the net. He'll receive no argument from MiikkaKiprusoff.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Oilers, whilethe loss extended the Flames' skid to five games. Calgary hasbeen outscored, 19-7, during the stretch.

"That was a big win for us," Horcoff said. "Let's be honest -the situation that we were in, we needed a big win. Nothingbetter than against Calgary."

"Everybody talks about rock bottom. Well, we are close," Flamescenter Craig Conroy said. "That's the way we have to look atit. It's not going to get any easier."

Horcoff created havoc in front of the net for both of his goals.

With Edmonton leading, 2-1, less than eight minutes into thethird period, the assistant captain gathered the rebound ofdefenseman Dick Tarnstrom's blast from just inside the blueline. Tanguay simply tapped the puck in for his fifth goal of thecampaign. He would have preferred a victory, however.

"When you're in a slump, it seems like every little time there'sa little turnover, there's a breakdown and the puck ends up inyour net. It's five in a row, and that's frustrating."

Robert Nilsson answered with six seconds remaining in thesession, blasting a shot from the right circle that beatKiprusoff just inside the right goalpost to give the Oilers a2-1 edge.

"I was kind of lucky," Nilsson said. "There wasn't too muchtime left. I got a pretty decent opportunity to shoot."

Kiprusoff finished with 31 saves, while Garon stopped 37 shots.

"It's always good sometimes to get a few shots at the beginningof the game," said Garon, who made 11 saves in the openingperiod. "They got a lot of shots, but some of them were not all<div class="pre">really hard to stop."</div>

Oilers coach Craig MacTavish was pleased with his team'sperformance.

"It was a good team effort from everybody," he said. "Anytimeyou get a win in today's game, you feel good about it. (But)the shelf life of the satisfaction is about an hour."

Counterpart Mike Keenan found fault with Kiprusoff's ability tocontrol rebounds, especially in penalty-killing situations.

"It's pretty difficult to criticize the people on the penaltykill when your goaltender is not part of the solution," saidKeenan, whose club yielded two power-play goals on six chances."On the second (man-advantage tally by Horcoff), our defensemenwere looking for pucks (rather) than looking for men. I wouldsay that has been a contributing factor to our lack of successon penalty-killing."
