NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- John Madden scored a pair of goalsand Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots as the New Jersey Devilsposted a 4-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

The Devils got back on the winning track a day after perhapstheir worst performance of the season, a 4-1 home loss onSaturday to the Phoenix Coyotes, who entered the game with thefewest points in the league.


Facing the Atlantic Division rival Flyers proved to be anelixir, as the Devils have won 10 straight meetings here sinceMarch 9, 2004.


New Jersey led 3-1 until Daniel Briere connected for his 15thgoal of the season on the power play to cut the lead to 3-2 with6:44 left in the third period. Briere ripped a wrist shot overBrodeur's glove from the bottom inside edge of the left circle.

However, Brodeur who beat the Flyers for his 500th career win onNovember 17, held them off to register his 39th win vs.Philadelphia - which is tied for the most against any team inthe league (New York Islanders and New York Rangers).

Jamie Langenbrunner added an empty-net goal in the final secondsto seal the win.


Madden's pair of goals staked the Devils to a 2-1 lead, andArron Asham made it a two-goal bulge when he tallied his fourthof the season with 13:57 left in the second off a feed from ZachParise.


New Jersey snapped a 1-1 tie with just over 10 minutes remainingin the second when Madden forced a turnover on a penalty killand pushed ahead the puck to Langenbrunner, who exploded downthe left wing and passed to Madden in the right slot for aperfect one-timer that blew by goaltender Antero Niittymaki.

Following a scoreless opening period, Richards scored 40 secondsinto the second as he batted in a loose puck from close rangewhile the Flyers had the man advantage. It was the 15th goalfor Richards, who broke a seven-game goalless streak.

The Devils countered just over two minutes later when Maddenknocked in the rebound of Karel Rachunek's blast from betweenthe points just 2:49 into the second for a power-play score.

Niittymaki stopped 34 shots for the Flyers, who have lost threeof the last four meetings between the clubs.
