DALLAS (Ticker) -- A pair of defensemen displayed theiroffensive skills and led the Dallas Stars to victory. Sergei Zubov and Stephane Robidas scored shootout goals as theStars posted a 3-2 preseason victory over the Phoenix Coyotes onThursday. Joel Lundqvist and Stu Barnes tallied in regulation for Dallas,which outshot Phoenix, 28-11, before heading to the shootout. Neither Marty Turco of the Stars nor Alex Auld of the Coyotesallowed a goal during the first three rounds of the bonusformat, but Zubov - who was 5-for-12 on attempts last season -put Dallas ahead on its fourth opportunity. Peter Mueller, the eighth overall pick in the 2006 draft, keptalive Phoenix's hopes by beating Turco. But Robidas fired aslap shot past Auld in the fifth round to give the Stars a 2-1edge. Mike York - who collected two assists - was the last chance forthe Coyotes, but Turco made the save, securing the victory. Lundqvist opened the scoring at 3:27 of the first period with abackhander, but Phoenix captain Shane Doan forged a 1-1 tie withfour second left in the session, slipping the puck between theskates of Turco from the top of the crease. Drafted 17th overall in 2005, Martin Hanzal put the Coyotes infront 3 1/2 minutes into the middle session with a power-playgoal. Limited to just three shots in the period, Dallas drew even on atally by Barnes with 4:20 remaining. After Robidas hit thegoalpost with a slap shot, Barnes wristed the puck past Auld forthe equalizer. After struggling in his first two preseason games with agoals-against average of 6.67 and a save percentage of .714,Turco responded with a strong performance, making 26 saves. Auld stopped five shots after replacing David Aebischer, whomade four saves in 31 minutes of action. Jeff Halpern recorded a pair of assists for the Stars.
