After Washington halved the lead in the top of the third on anRBI groundout by Felipe Lopez, the Diamondbacks increased theiradvantage in the bottom of the frame on consecutive bases-loadedwalks by Upton and Reynolds to make it 4-1.


The Nationals rallied when Lopez, Ryan Zimmerman and AustinKearns all homered in the sixth against Hernandez to tie thegame at 4-4.


Kearns had two hits for Washington, which has alternated winsand losses in its last six games.

 

Reynolds, Jackson help Diamondbacks cruise by Nationals

Conor Jackson belted a pair of two-run homers and rookie MiguelMontero drove in two runs for Arizona, which has won threestraight and six of seven to maintain its three-game lead overthe San Diego Padres in the National League West. "I never feel the game is ours, but we feel very good when thebullpen is in, but they are human," Nationals manager Manny Actasaid. "We came in and walked back-to back hitters and youusually get in trouble when you do that."

"I was trying to throw the ball down the middle but I think Ihit every spot but the middle," Chico said. "When I was on themound I was real slow. Once you start thinking about somethingelse other then the things you are suppose to think about,that's when bad things start happening."
