    yes, it does matter. if oden starts the 3rd, he could potentially play the whole quarter. if he picks up his 4th foul for a minute, then he comes out. oh well. if he sits the first 8 minutes, those are 8 minutes he can't ever get back regardless of how well he does avoiding fouls. might as well put him on the court. if he takes himself off, he takes himself off.
