dude has a few 50 point games under his belt, so it's not like he's a fluke. Brandon supposedly hooked him up with quite a few tix for friends and family STOMP
Sadly there's no arguing with those numbers. Oden needs to dial it WAY back on defense but doesn't seem capable of doing it.
Coming from the biggest Travis honk and apologist on this board, this statement is ringing just a little hollow.
Portland was supposed to be a good team too. Apparently they either missed that memo, or bought their hype so much they didn't think they had to do the simple things. You know, play defense or not such on offense. Another well coached gem by Nate.
Travis was the only guy who could score down the stretch tonight. Travis is a much more established player in this league than Greg Oden.
True, but they have super athletic forwards who like to attack the rim. We do not. Without Oden and Joel, guys like Josh Smith and Horford were able to feast on us.
With the few who are defending McMillan's subbing patterns because Oden was in foul trouble, did you just magically fucking forget that we have Joel who plays center as well? Why the fuck were we playing without a center for so long? Fucking idiot. I always said blocking someone is petty, but it's getting to the point where I might have to.
The key to our improvement this season was Oden but he can't stay in the games. And he finds ways to fumble the ball even when wide open. Sucks. Every game, I have high hopes for him and he starts off well and then it all falls apart. Game after game.
The problem is the shooting percentage. This year's team is shooting significantly worse than last year's team. They were .511 last season, they are .470 this season. That is a significant amount considering they shot 75 fgpg this year, and 79 fgpg last year. edit: there defense seems to have improved from a FG perspective, their opponents were .499 last year, and .459 this year. and attempts were 76.9 and are now 72.8. overall, it seems like they should have the same results, (both teams % dropped by 4 and attempts by 4)
How is that exactly relevant? Let's play to the strengths of the opposition or us? We don't have much of a starting point guard, I think we should start asking teams with good point guards to not play them quite as much.
