The option was declined and they agreed to a $7.5 million one year deal.

Got mixed feelings on this one. My thought was that he's be bought out, thanked for his service as the senior Yankee and out the door. His option was what about 12 mil that could be bought for two overall putting 10 out for others. I did see an article on River Avenue Blues which keeping him for '19 and using him in defensive areas. So I guess we will see Hicks, Judge, and Frazier as primary with Gardner in the filler spot.

After multiple concussions this year I don't think frazier is someone the yanks are counting on. I see either a play for harper or a trade for a left handed hitting left fielder

Rubber arm bouncing throws 3 times to a deep cutoff man. Johnny Damon would be proud.

Only Yankee who beats out INF hits more than the others.
If only Gardner would of learned how to steal a base or 40... ++

At least he knew he'd probably get less $$$ elsewhere...

Where will Cap'n Fantastic polish his sailing shoes in 2020 at age 37 -???
    Hmmmm, lemme guess...
Starting LF'r for the NY Metros, Orioles, ChiSox or Royals.....

.Although he is not appreciated because of his noodle arm, he still gives 110% every time he plays. Now that's worth 7.5 mil-right Trashman? The Yankees could have let him go but his attitude keeps him playing in pin strips.

Per my former post I do have mixed feelings on Gardner. He is a damn good defensive outfielder, making some awesome plays out there, has hit some memorable game tying or winning home runs. The Yankees know the intangibles better than we. Back in '08 I was watching a televised Yankees Red so game with Gardner getting the GWRBI against Papelbon. Since the Yankees decided to keep him I say best of luck. Jesus Christ don't re-sign CC.

One of Gardners finest dingers was the 3 run 9th inning game winner against the Chicago Cubs. Yankees swept that series .

How is Gardner as a FA heading in to 2019 worth more than Neil Walker was heading in to 2018?

Gardy is getting 7.5 plus a 2 million payout to avoid the 12.5 million option. So 9.5 million for Gardner for 2019, 4 million for Walker for 2018.

It's more than a small overpay. No other team would have given him 7.5, and certainly not 9.5.

Amen, the Yanx need a Veterans perspective in the Clubhouse, dugout and on the field.
Gardner's Consistent when it comes to setting the bar of one who hustles in all aspects of the game, something Cano, Machado and too many others will never figure out, i.e. playing the game with intensity always in all ways....

MLB Tonight (Butthole Kenny & Plesac) paint CC out 2B the stud he us not.
At this point in his career, Sabathia is nothing more than that mediocre long reliever. If Trashbin signs him for one more year, such as signing would scream mediocrity is the new Norm for Yankee greatness...

Kenney is a pseudo-intellectual sta quoting dork and Pleasac sticks his finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing prior to comments. These people are supposed to report baseball events not submit their opinions of team or player action. Another thing irritating about Pleasac is his "the folks at home don't know"___________________. I guess he thinks that fans are like sheep. One of the best commentators on MLB Network was Darrell Hamilton. The man was straight up and always credited the fans for knowing the game.
