<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (TheBeef @ Apr 29 2008, 02:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>In my opinion, contact with a ref is grounds for suspension....he meant that contact for someone and thats enough intent in my mind....i can give an example of this in the real world: rob a bank, hit a pedestrian during the getaway, get charged with murder....you are responsible for your collateral damage when you are out of line....</div> What a ridiculous example to add on to an already ridiculous thread. First, for the guy who says suspend Kendrick but not Marvin? Are you ****ing serious? How could any justify that, other than by being an irrational Hawks fan? They both took a single walking step onto the court before someone shoved him back towards the bench. And suspending Garnett is a joke. Sure, he shoved a ref, but look at how the ref approached him. You have a guy who is intense when eating pancakes in a particularly intense moment and the ref comes up from beside him and grabs him around the waste and starts pulling on him. Of course Garnett is going to react that way. He'd react that way if it was Doc Rivers or Sam Cassell too. Had Garnett reacted that way if the ref was standing directly infront of him, there would be a case. But when the guy is pulling on him from the side, that's not worthy of suspension. Lets also remember that the ref innitiated the contact with Garnett, not the other way around. The other thing that I am trying to figure out is why there is a massive call for a Garnett suspension, but not one for Jason Kidd. Who can honestly watch that replay and tell me that there was no intent to injure there? Kidd held him by the back of the head and pulled him down towards the floor. If that does not earn a suspension, but Garnett's action does, this is a joke.

Sure, Kidd ended up grabbing him by the head, but it doesn't mean it was intentional. Things happen, especially at pace that their playing.

How on earth can you possibly justify suspending Kendrick Perkins and not Marvin Williams?

In the replay that I saw, both players set a single foot onto the court while moving forward. Granted, Perkins was closer to the action, but last I checked, geography wasn't a consideration in suspension. Its on the court or not on the court. There is no logical way you can suspend either, but the NBA will probably find a way. If they take out Perk and not Marvin, its a joke.
Are you kidding me, so Perkins wasn't be held back by a assissant coach? Marvin was standing there, he probably didn't even know he had a foor on the court.

Both appeared to be getting up to look at the action as neither was moving fast enough to appear to have any intention of getting involved. Both were stopped by assistants before getting a second foot on the floor. Suspend both or suspend neither (preferably neither). You're a homer if you don't think otherwise.

That is why there is a difference. KG had inappropriate touching of a ref. That isn't comparable to any player on player contact.

Garnett could indeed be suspended for touching the ref like that, but there is room for him to be left alone with just the Technical.
I'm so glad Zaza got up in KG's face. He ain't scared of shit. Set the tone for the rest of the game, too. And on KG's elbow: the Celtics team has been getting away with cheap shit like that for the whole season. It's a buncha bullshit how the refs let them get away with every cheap shot. KG's the king of cheap shots, and the only thing I'm disappointed about is that KG didn't push Zaza so that Zaza coulda knocked his ass out. And Zaza ain't no pussy European like Nenad or Manu, he's one of those hustle guys who bust their asses and don't mind getting physical. You think he's scared of KG? Funny
