Garnett wins DPOY

    That's my point exactly. By all means, acknowledge Garnett's role in reinvigorating the Celtics defense. Its definitely worth noting, as good individual defenders should be able to affect the team's defense like that. But to make that the central part of your case for him winning the DPoY (as so many have done) doesn't make sense, IMO.

    The award is meant to recognize individual defensive play. And an individual player can only be given so much credit for a team's turnaround. Like you said, you have to have something there in the first place and, in this case, that something was better coaching, some new players, and internal development. KG didn't do it by himself and the DPoY is supposed to focus on what he did do by himself.

    so...how is apparent should-be dpoy marcus camby doing against that same gasol in this years playoffs...lets see...gasol is averaging 22-9-5-3 on 60% shooting...yea, camby should have been the individual defensive player of the year [​IMG]

    well apparently garnett didnt really have that much to do with the TEAM defense its all about the team team team so you cant put the TEAMS defensive struggles on him if ur not gonna give him credit for the turnaround
