That article is a year old but their evil ban is now even worse! http://articles.latimes.com/2014/fe...est-hollywood-gay-bar-bans-lawmakers-20140226
Ah yes! There it is. "all those people out there who conflate Christian values" That's the message in a nut shell. Ha! They should have meet me before I moderated by taking on the Christian philosophy.
Controversial Texas Restaurant Becoming A ‘Highly Rated’ Gay Bar http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2014/05/30/controversial-texas-restaurant-becoming-a-highly-rated-gay-bar/
This is a much better Attack on an establishment after being refused service than the two woman and government on a religious person, that hires gays, respects them but just didn't want to wed them because of their religious views. I think Los Angeles should sue "The Abby" for being like the KKK and their straightaphobic ban.
And what do you suppose would happen if "straight" bars banned gay people? Immoral and unethical practices has become the norm and morals and ethics is scorned and shunned. What a backasswards society we live in.
A couple of things: It seems like a lot of you are reacting from a misleading thread title then from the actual article. The article was written on May 24, 2012. Also they were not banning straight people. They were banning bachelorette parties. In the article there was the statement from the bar. No where does it say it was banning straight people. "Every Friday and Saturday night, we're flooded with requests from straight girls in penis hats who want to ogle our go-gos, dance with the gays and celebrate their pending nuptials. They are completely unaware that the people around them are legally prohibited from getting married," said David Cooley, Founder of The Abbey. "Over the past 22 years, The Abbey has been a place that accepts everyone, gay, straight, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and everything in between. We love our straight girlfriends and they are welcome here, just not for bachelorette parties." It has long been a policy at The Abbey to deny admission to groups in costume, including Bachelorette regalia. Bachelorette parties had previously been allowed inside if they removed their costumes. The Abbey's 'bachelorette ban' comes on the heels of a ban on gay marriage in North Carolina and a number of other states across the South. The Abbey encourages other gay-owned and operated establishments to institute their own bans as a sign of solidarity until marriage is legal everywhere for everyone. So the ban wasn't on straight people but what they wore. Many clubs have dress codes. No saggy pants, no gang symbols, no jeans, no hoodies, etc. Not sure what some of you want to sue about. Not even sure the ban against bachelorette parties is still in effect considering that same sex marriage is legal in California. Maybe some of you could go undercover dressed as bachelorettes and see if you aren't allowed in the club.
Wow, if you guys really want to go that gay bar, I'm sure if you ask politely they will let you in. But you have to man the glory hole
Hey these bars even discriminate over themselves! http://www.gopusa.com/news/2014/08/05/gay-bar-found-guilty-of-discrimination/ Here is a case where a man dressed in drag was not allowed into a gay bar.
Wait, you're surprised that people reacted to the headline and not the actual article? You mean facts make a difference?!?
From your own article, A bouncer said he turned Marzano away because his appearance didn't match his driver's license, and he was following a policy designed to thwart underage drinkers from entering the club.
Wait, so people take quotes and assume that's what they believe? Newsflash... I've been to this bar and they definitely discriminate over straight people. I've seen bartenders and waiters take their time on a straight party, while serving the gay group next to them. It's weird that you and sly just assume that this behavior is okay, yet someone saying "sorry I can't wes you because it goes against my religion" is wrong.
