I have yet to get to play it, not because we don't have it, but because my brother is in the process of playing it. However, everything I've read points to it being the GOTY. It sounds amazing in every aspect. I can't wait to get the chance to play the game I've been waiting well over a year to play now.</div> You know, while on the subject, I was reading the review of Zelda and I really think it maybe a product of hype. From the IGN.com review of it, it got major points for Lasting Appeal and Gameplay. Everything else was pretty moderate in ratings. Anyway, I haven't played the game so I don't know but it got me thinking, has a game ever been so hyped up yet disappointed? Gears of War was hyped, got a good rating. Halo 2 same Zelda there are heaps but I can't think of a majorly hyped up game that has not gotten a good review.

I got a chance to play it for a good couple of hours today before work and I was impressed to say the least. While the graphics would look great for a 'Cube, it could be better on the Wii. The textures do have a little blur to them, but that's the only real gripe there. The gameplay shines though, beyond even what I was expecting. The Wii-mote mechanics work great. Shooting the slingshot is very intuitive, as is slashing the sword. The mechanics work great, and all the reviews are right, once you play this way, you can never imagine going back to button pushing and joystick aiming in a Zelda game. Everything about this game rocks so far. Beyond what I've played, it sounds great. It's supposed to be a deep game and the storyline is apparently more than an afterthought as well. I feel it will be the game of the year, but I can't say that quite yet, not until I get into it further. But, as it stands, it's an amazing game so far, and it's only going to get better in all likelyhood.

Fable also had a ton of stuff taken out of it that was supposed to be in it until game creater Peter Molyneaux decided against it. Fable was supposed to be a huge game that would last at least 20+ hours for non completionists. It ended up being a game you could sit down and beat in a weekend if you just went straight through and didn't explore, and even then, it was still a feasible accomplishment.
Yep. Didn't say it was a bad game (I enjoyed it), but it was clearly a victim of Molyneux's hype and I thought it fit I-Miss-MJ's requirements.

However look at game blockbusters (Halo, Final Fantasy, Zelda etc) how many sequels that have been hyped up are ever failed to deliver? I mean I look at Final Fantasy 10 way over-rated from the score IGN gave it. Final Fantasy VIII was given a better rating then arguably the best RPG/Game ever in Final Fantasy VII. I dunno maybe these games are just that good.
A lot of the games in this thread, specifically Gears of War and Zelda, I own and have had the opportunity to play, and they're not a product of hype at all. When you play them, you realize why they were so hyped, it's cause they are that damn good. I'm not saying they're flawless, but the games do rock and do deserve the hype and attention that they're given.

I don't think it fits the commercial well because I just always think of the movie....great movie btw.
