It is the best professional sports playoffs, bar none. The games last night were great, a lot of hits and chippy play in Boston. Crazy back and forth game in TB. StL wiped the walls with the Wild. And a good battle in LA although I watched very little of this one. Cancel your plans for Saturday night!
No....more game 7's!!! Lets go CAPS and Stars! What a wild 3rd period in DC though....there is nothing better than Stanley Cup playoffs. NOTHING!
Carolina going to win in 7. They play the winner of our series. Us or the Pens would be pretty big underdogs IMO, but I'd love the opportunity to beat them.
On one hand I feel for Toronto having to play TB in round 1 this year due to the terrible NHL playoff seeding system. On the other hand they have choked so many times, including up 3-1 against average Montreal last season, they don't get the benefit of the doubt this year. You have to think they'll make changes now. They cannot do the same thing over and over again with that main core. I'd say Tavares going there has been a disappointment, and he is not the player they thought he'd be. They also have some of us in them, a little softer and play East-West pass happy hockey. They'll be an interesting watch. Great series coming up TB/Florida. Should be a lot of fun.
Edmonton is going to be in the same position as Toronto should they not be able to take care of LA tonight....Looking like a scoreless first there, certainly not the start the Oilers were looking for.
Maybe it'll be a battle of Alberta in the 2nd round. Remember when Steve Smith shot the puck off his own goalies leg and cost Edmonton a shot at what would've ended up 5 straight SC?
Edmonton moves on. You'd think they'd play Calgary. I like the West round 2 matchups if so. The Blues are a good playoff team against Colorado, and the battle of Alberta. The worst round 2 series on paper might be the winner tonight against Carolina.
Maple Laughs are run by incompetent morons. Every year they refuse to trade one of their top scoring forwards for a stud defenseman or an upgrade in goal. Thus why they haven't won a playoff series in over 15 years. They also draft poorly when they don't have a top 5 pick. A perfect example. In the 2020 draft they took another soft, euro scoring forward at 15 instead of Schneider or Barron. In that same draft they took another soft euro at 59. One pick later JD took Cuylle. The idiots runing that team have euro pussy syndrome which is the same thing that got Gorton fired.
Great round 2 on tap: Oilers/Flames - Flames in 6 Blues/Avs - Avs in 6 Lightning/Panthers - Panthers in 7 Rangers/Canes - Canes in 5 or 6
Whatever your feeling about the playoff format, the NHL has great matchups ratings wise. I see Rangers winning the series as they continue to be underestimated.
