Sending KVH to the Nets means the Mavs are taking back even more salary on which they would have to pay taxes
So, apparently George doesn't want to lose his Bird Rights, which give him leverage in resigning and what not during the offseason. That's the current hold up here. If he gets traded, his Bird Rights go bye-bye.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Moo2K4 @ Feb 13 2008, 11:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't think Eddie Jones makes enough money to make it work. Plus, Eddie Jones is much better than George and gives them a very good shooter off the bench with playoff experience. As for waiving him, what good is that going to do? If you waive him, you can't trade him. It'd make no sense to simply remove someone from your roster just because he's invoking a clause that he's got. Plus, the deal could still work, and if you waive him, you have to replace him in the deal.</div> Not sure if you are responding to what I posted, but I think you may have mistaken the deal and the stated motives. It's widely known that Memphis is cutting salary and trying to acquire future assets and shorter contracts in preparation for a sale of the franchise. They have no use for Eddie Jones, and since he would certainly rather stay in Dallas to compete with a championship caliber team, the waiver would satisfy both parties. Hassell makes about half what Mike Miller makes with the same term, so they save money and cap space over the next few years. The trade as propsosed works according to the ESPN trade machine (see the link). The big difference for the Nets is that they get Mike Miller instead of one of the Dallas first rounders, a very nice upgrade IMO.

Think about it another Western Conference team right now can attempt a side deal if he's not careful. And now you basically told Devin Harris, Diop and George we really don't want you .. the Bulls did this too this season.
You know, I never looked at it that way. What if this trade doesn't happen? If you're the players involved, you've got to be discouraged. With this, management is basically coming out and saying we can do better than you. That's gotta hurt and piss you off at the same time. You have to wonder if it might affect play as well.
according to espn Devan george had the WORST shooting night of the year 0-11 lol you think hes reconsidering unblocking the trade now?

They are the only ones who have all the pieces in place for a deal like this to work (e.g. young promising player in harris, expiring contracts, and picks) Possibilities are Devan george approves the trade, or they use KVH as a contract to send to us instead, or they somehow get a 3rd team involved which complicates things even more. Were goin to find out how much cuban really wants this to happen. The ball is in their court

great find GMjigga! I understand his point of view and all eyes are on him becuz hes really the only that can make this possible now I think after he speaks with his agent they will go to cuban and ask him to write him a check to waive the no trade and the deal gets done in the end. or at least im hopin becuz for some reason i cant imagine kidd coming back and playing the rest of the year as a net after this lol
