Exactly. Many people have said we did nothing to address the issue. We did do something though. Just because the outcome wasn't satisfactory doesn't mean nothing was done.

And YOU better get us a win tonight!!! That's doing something! :)

Man... Are we really talking about our locker room being "fractured" because George Karl has his head up his ass?

    Jesus...

Is nobody going to point out that Karl and Stotts go way back? No way Karl is going to blame anything on Stotts.

I'd love to drink a beer with Karl and talk with him more in depth about it.

And yes, Karl knows more about basketball than all of us.

    Except me, I know more.

I vaguely recall the comment. I think it was widely assumed on the board at the time he was most likely talking about Batum, and possibly Dame.

I think Lillard is a little too involved in his rap career and shoe line for my own personal tastes. While it likely doesn't affect his on court performance, when the team isn't doing well, something you have to think if his head is entirely in the game.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Karl knows a lot about basketball, but doesn't have any sort of insider access to the Blazers and, more to the point, he really gave no basketball reasons for his opinion. It's not enough to be an expert--you have to actually use that expertise in some observable way for your position to have credibility, in my opinion. Karl, to me, simply tossed off a quick observation that basically was just a vote of support for his friend. He didn't say anything that suggested basketball expertise was being applied.

Perhaps not. Look how many international players have excelled in SAS (Diaw, Splitter, Mills, Manu, Parker, Belinelli, Baynes, etc.). They were all exposed to different coaches, different systems, different cultures, yet so many of them excel in SAS, and many don't seem to be worth a shit before, or after SAS.

Of course, Pop is a no nonsense, my way or the highway, kind of coach, but that only works if the players believe in what you're selling. Pop has a track record that speaks for itself, but it hasn't always been that way. He had to build that up over the years and when players have seen his style of team play work elsewhere, they are more likely to instantly buy in. And, if not, he's quick to show them the door.

Karl doesn't know Dame. He knows Stotts. Apparently his decades of professional basketball experience and his close familiarity with Stotts leads him to believe Stotts is a good coach. The bastard.

I would offer that for the most part, in the past at least, European players, because of the systems they grew up in, and because of the iron-fisted team oriented nature of European coaching, are coachable. It's been my impression that the European leagues are full of coaches who are just like Pop in their no-nonsense approach. I see European players and Popovich as a perfect match.

Not just European players, but international players, in general (Manu, Patty, Baynes, Oberto, etc.).

You're right. I initially wrote foreign, but didn't like it and changed it to European. I was thinking some of the South Americans came via European basketball. International is more correct.
