Green's 48 min per game stats since joining the Rockets are: 72ppg, 24 offensive rebounds and 100% shooting from the field. I can't believe he's been cut by the Rockets, after being traded by the Wolves. Just last year, he was the Celtics best player not named Pierce (slight exaggeration).

Green can dunk very well, but he's not the answer we need. The closest we have is Boki, who while being miserable earlier this season, has gradually put it together as of late, putting up double-digit scoring off the bench. I'm not saying he's the answer to our bench-shooting woes, but neither is the FEAR.

Let us examine this like rational men... 1) If Green clears waivers, he will be owed about $200,000--the prorated portion of vets minimum for a third year player. No big whoop, considering the Nets are about $6.5 million under the luxury tax right now. They could also sign him to a 10-day for a pittance. 2) The Nets have only 14 players under contract so no one would have to be moved. If you believe, as I do, that KVH will be released a month after he was traded, then he will be waived around March 20...10 days from now. 3) Frank said at the time of Magloire buyout that the Nets were looking for roster flexibility in case a shooter became available "down the road". 4) If the Nets do sign Green, they will an advantage in signing him should they like what they see. However, should the Nets make the playoffs, he would not be eligible. 5) The Nets liked him in 2005. Rob Meurs, the Nets' director of international scouting, was in the war room that night. He hinted strongly to NBADraft.net that opinion was divided in the war room between Wright and Green. (Granger was dismissed because of his knee problems during workouts.) Green is athletic. He can shoot the three. Last year, he averaged 10.4 ppg in 81 games...at age 20/21. The problems are his work ethic and an abiding arrogance that one would hope has been diminished by his being traded by the Celts, being denied an extension by the Wolves and being cut by the Rockets, his hometown team. He has felt it was beneath him to play defense or to run plays as designed by the coach. Doc Rivers has spoken of how frustrating it was to be in coach. He had the same problem in 2005 when he refused to participate in any multi-player workouts. He is not J.R. Smith. Smith is more athletic, more talented. BUT Smith is also a locker room cancer, a kid who has had real run-ins with both of his coaches in the NBA: Byron Scott and George Karl. He has had a series of off-court problems as well. Green, as noted by Houston GM today, is not a locker room cancer. He may frustrate his coaches, but he doesn't get suspended by his coaches or the NBA. He didn't kill his best friend by driving recklessly either. Bottom line: someone will sign him for the rest of the year. I doubt it will be the Nets. (Re Ager, he is signed for next year because the Mavs liked him enough to extend his contract. In fact, when the Mavs re-signed Harris, Donn Nelson said that Harris, Ager, Diop and Josh Howard "formed the cornerstone of the franchise's future". Don't give up [yet] on Ager.)
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Nets Not Interested in Green March 11, 2008, 6:53 am Gerald Green won the Slam Dunk Contest last year and averaged 10 points per game in 81 games. But he so exasperated coaches in Boston, Minnesota and Houston that he is now out of work. Among those who would have liked to have him when he was drafted but have no interest now is Rod Thorn. Thorn did say Green could get a summer league invite and also suggested the team still might add someone.</div> http://www.netsdaily.com/?p=5664 got to be kidding me
There's already a thread about this: http://sportstwo.com/forums/Gerald-Green-t113341.html Use the search option next time, instead of cluttering the forum with threads that already exist.

No problem, just remember to check next time. I'm sure a mod will merge these two. And I don't think we really need another wing right now, I'd rather develop Ager.
Boki can bitch about losing and take his stupid shots but Gerald who fans would love and he'd work his butt off can't even get a limited contract. Green and JR this summer you got that Thron !!!
